After a very quiet week for tennis DFS with very few pro events going during the Olympics the pace has picked up. DraftKings has 12 matches on today’s slate from both men’s and women’s side in Washington and San Jose. With the U.S. Open now less than a month away players are migrating to hard courts to get prepped for the last Slam of 2021. Also in an exciting twist we get a slate starting at noon CST so watching for news and watching matches will be much easier. Let’s make some picks for our fantasy tennis lineups for August 2, 2021.
Top Open DraftKings Tennis DFS Picks
To help make one of the many difficult decisions, I will be using Awesemo’s industry-leading tennis DFS projections, which also include regressed match data and outcome probabilities.
Kevin Anderson ($7,500)
Opponent: Jenson Brooksby
Odds: -122 (SugarHouse)
In a rematch of the Newport Final from just a few weeks ago we get Kevin Anderson taking on Jenson Brooksby. In that match Anderson dispatched of Brooksby in straight sets while hitting 16 Aces. I’d expect much of the same from the South African native here with his slate-pacing 12.8 Aces per contest and 349 Wins on the hard courts. Brooksby has never played a main draw match on this surface so results are hard to project. In his career on the lower tours he’s played a safe-style with just 3.3% Aces. The speed and bounce could absolutely be a factor here with the power Anderson carries.
Anderson’s floor is always great for cash games in tennis DFS because of the great service game and if he can sweep the young American again he’ll be a must in the GPP winning lineup.

Jack Sock ($8,100)
Opponent: Yoshi Nishioka
Odds: -148 (SugarHouse)
The price shocks me a bit more than the odds here for American Jack Sock going up against Yoshi Nishioka. Like the two above, these two met in Newport with Sock cruising in straight sets winning nearly 90% of first serves. Nishioka has really struggled on the hard surface this year going 0-6 (W-L) while also only winning 3 sets across those 6 matches. Sock is not the most typical American hard court player but still has a superior Win percentage and Ace percentage in comparison to the Japan native.
One other large factor in this match could be the travel that Nishioka has went through over the past few weeks with Wimbledon, then Newport, then Olympics, and now back to the US. Sock has enjoyed success here reaching quarters or better three times and looks very likely to move on.
