Yesterday’s slate had several surprsing results, including the Elise Mertens. That is to be expected since a lot of players are playing on clay for the first time this year. There is a smaller 11-match slate today with a lot of ways to still get different. Let’s dive right in to the DraftKings tennis DFS picks on Thursday, April 8.
DraftKings Tennis DFS Picks | April 8
Tennis DFS Pick: Daniela Seguel ($6,800)
Opponent: Harmony Tan
Opened at +156
Harmony Tan has started the year off hot compared to previous years on clay, but a closer look at her opponents downplays that hot start, with a combined record of 3-7 since 2020. Daniela Seguel leads the head-to-head 2-1, with one of those wins taking place on clay, and she has played the better-quality competition this year. Seguel also leads in second-serve-won percentage and return-points-won percentage. She should win in straight sets.
Tennis DFS Pick: Ons Jabeur ($8,700)
Opponent: Alize Cornet
Odds to win: -230
Alize Cornet is fresh off of a big upset win over Elise Mertens, who blew a 5-4 lead in the first set and then got dominated in the second set. This was Mertens first match on clay of the year, and the surface rust was apparent. Ons Jabeur has been playing at a high level this tournament, with 10-percentage-point leads over Cornet in first serves won and second serves won. Jabeur also leads the head-to-head 1-0, and with Cornet averaging seven double faults per match, the in-form Jabeur is the better play.
Other plays: Garbine Muguruza ($10,200)
