LaVar Ball Has Choice Words After LiAngelo Cut From Pistons

For 11 days, LaVar Ball’s dream had finally come true, all three of his sons were on NBA rosters. Lonzo Ball is ready to steer the Zion-led Pelicans ship into contention, Rookie LaMelo looks to provide the spark Kemba Walker once gave Charlotte. Even LiAngelo, the one son who was never a high prospect, got his chance with the Detroit Pistons. For a moment LaVar Ball looked prophetic.

Then LiAngelo Ball was released by the Pistons before stepping on the court, even in a preseason contest.

LiAngelo was originally offered a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract with the hopes that he would compete for a roster spot for the Pistons’ G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive. But, after nursing an ankle injury and missing his first potential preseason game, Ball was cut.

LaVar Ball was not happy about Detroit’s decision.

“I definitely have thoughts on that,” LaVar Ball said to Bleacher Report. “The people in Detroit are great. I love the fans, but the franchise over there is raggedy as hell. They don’t know a good player. I was giving them a lottery pick for free! Has the skills to play and the notoriety to bring everybody to the game. How do you throw that out the window?”

“They’re gonna learn the hard way,” LaVar Ball continued. “My boys are gonna end up together playing somewhere. ‘Gelo can shoot the lights out. That was raggedy what they did. But hey, they’re gonna learn the hard way.”

Sideaction’s Latest:

LaVar Ball’s antics have always been a problem for NBA franchises when dealing with Lonzo Ball, LiAngelo and LaMelo in the past, and these comments do not help build relationships with teams that consider taking a flyer on LiAngelo in the future.

The Detroit Pistons made the playoffs eight years in a row including six straight conference finals appearances from 2002 to 2008 with the Chauncey Billups-led ragtag squad. But the downtrodden franchise has made two playoff appearances since over the last 11 years. Even if the Pistons make the playoffs, they also hold a 14-game losing streak in the postseason.
