WNBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Picks August 16th (FREE)

Here we have a five game WNBA slate. Remember, a five game slate is different than two game slates. The winning scores on both sites are going to be about 220 or 230 (most likely scored by me). One point I should make, these are two different slates. On DraftKings the pricing is loose, whereas on FanDuel the pricing is tight. You should love every play you make on DraftKings. On FanDuel you might have to hold your nose. Seattle Storm Guards

This is a five game slate. If news came that Jewel Lloyd were starting I would be interested but thats it minutes way to divided here. Now news has come in that Jordan Canada is questionable. If she were to miss that would be a bump to Sami Whitcombe and Shavonte Zellous. Also I would be extremely interested in Lloyd if she drew the start.

Seattle Storm Forwards

Natasha Howard just put up 50 fantasy points in a game her team lost by over 30. In other words, she is matchup proof. The Sun do not scare me defensively. Mercedes Russell is still too cheap on FanDuel.

Connecticut Sun Guards

Jasmine Thomas’ price has come down and she should be low owned I do not hate the spot. Courtney Williams is priced at her ceiling.

Connecticut Sun Forwards

Jonquel Jones might be the favorite spend on the slate. I like the home matchup against Seattle. Alyssa Thomas is too cheap on DraftKings for her upside here at home.

New York Liberty Guards

Normally on a five game slate I would ignore the Liberty guards, but Kia Nurse is too cheap for her potential here. She has been over 28 minutes the last three games, but she is just shooting poorly. Bria Hartley in GPPs if Durr is out is live as well.

New York Liberty Forwards

Tina Charles price is still down. The usage should be there. Nothing on Dallas scares me other than the pace. I like her a bunch here. People will chase Rebecca Allen. I doubt she shoots 13-17 again.

Dallas Guards

Arike Ogunbowale shot 57% last game on the way to her 40 fantasy point performance. It was an outlier. That being said she now gets a home game against the up tempo bad defense Liberty. This is a pivot point on the slate. She is priced up but is in a great spot. I am inclined to fade, but it’s an ownership play. Alicia Gray and Kaela Davis also got as much minutes as they could handle last game. They also benefit from the easier matchup as well.

Dallas Wings Forwards

Glory Johnson got all the minutes she could handle and smashed. Isabelle Harrison got a ton of minutes as well and did not smash. You see the point I am getting at? If the ownership is 2:1 in favor of Glory you probably want Harrison. That being said, it’s a great spot so I would want some of both. Megan Gustaffson can used on FanDuel as a punt. She is not as bad as last game.

Washington Mystic Guards

Not really digging Washington on the road in Minnesota here. With Kristi Toliver out you can take a shot on Natasha Cloud or Ariel Atkins but there are better spots.

Washington Mystic Forwards

Not going to lie I like Elena Delle Donne here nobody is going to play her after Wednesday’s bust. But this game should be close on the road. I think the Mystics lean on her alot. Yes it’s a bad matchup, but I like her a bunch in GPPs. The only hesitation I have is I think Aerial Powers starting has taken away some of her usage. I also like Powers as well here. LaToya Sanders is too cheap on FanDuel.

Minnesota Lynx Guards

The only Lynx guard I would consider is Lexi Brown in a GPP on Fanduel. She can get hot and she has been hovering in the 15-20 minute range.

Minnesota Lynx Forwards

Not on a five game slate. Maybe you can go Syliva Fowles in a GPP, but she just does not have the upside anymore.

LA Sparks Guards

Everybody is healthy and priced up. This is an up tempo game, so Chelsea Gray in a GPP is a strong play.

LA Sparks Forwards

Candace Parker is going to go overlooked on this slate in a prime matchup on the road in Chicago. Her price has come down as well. This game should stay close, her minutes are there and it’s been two weeks since she came back from the injury. Nneka Ogwumike is also in a strong spend up spot that I do not think people will be on.

Chicago Guards

If you are stacking this game I like the idea of playing Courtney Vandersloot, especially coming off the illness and not playing in the last game. As always Diamond DeShields at home can be played.

Chicago Forwards

Astou Ndour price has not come up on DraftKings relative to her role and minutes. Now, I like her over there for value. On FanDuel I would prefer to find the extra money to spend up for Cheyenne Parker. It’s a bad matchup but I like both. Also, I feel especially on FanDuel that Stefanie Dolson will be under owned there and she is priced down somewhat over there.

Atlanta Dream Guards

Not really interested in Dream guards with everyone healthy. You can play Tiffany Hayes in a GPP I guess but that’s about it on a five game slate.

Atlanta Dream Forwards

I like Elizabeth Williams and Jessica Breland a lot, and even more if we get word that Monique Billings is out. Phoenix without Griner cannot rebound. I do worry about Marie Gulch cutting into their minutes and if Billings is out Gulch would be in play more on DraftKings.

Phoenix Mercury Forwards

There is legit concern about the Mercury Forwards having the upside you need on a five game slate. But this is a game versus Atlanta. Brianna Turner is the better play over Camille Little, but both are in play here.

Phoenix Mercury Guards

DeWanna Bonner is the other big decision on the slate. She was highly owned on Wednesday despite struggling and in a bad matchup. Now we still have her struggling but in the one of the better home matchups you can get. Lelani Mitchell also sees a huge bump in usage with Griner out. Yvonne Turner’s price has come down to where she is a reasonable play as well. On FanDuel Sophie Cunningham is 3600 and she played 20 minutes. Anyone getting 20 minutes against Atlanta who is cheap is a strong play. I would probably want to be overweight on the field on Bonner on DraftKings. On FanDuel it’s a little tougher with the lack of value.
