WNBA DFS Picks: Brittney Griner or Natasha Howard? July 23 (FREE)

Today we have an interesting three game WNBA DFS slate with massive injury news we will be waiting on. Now remember, the All Star break is this weekend so you would imagine a lot of these players sit out this game and get the longer break. The converse to that is some of these teams need wins.

Atlanta Dream Guards

Tiffany Hayes was ready to play on Sunday but they held her out due to the blow out. I suspect she is back for this game. Assuming she is, the only guard I would have interest in is Renee Montgomery, who is still too cheap on FanDuel.

Atlanta Dream Forwards

Against the Sparks is not a great spot. Jessica Breland or Elizabeth Williams could be played in GPPs but it would be far down my list.

LA Sparks Guards

Alana Beard and Alexis Jones have both been ruled out. Tiffany Ruffin Pratt and Sydney Weise are too cheap on FanDuel for the amount of minutes they will play versus Atlanta. As for Chelsea Gray, if spending up that far I prefer Bonner, but obviously this is a great matchup versus Atlanta.

LA Sparks Forwards

Sometimes it’s simple. Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogumike are great plays with Candace Parker out, and bigs are great plays against Atlanta. Nneka is priced up on both sites, where even in this great matchup a fade is viable especially with other studs on the slate in great matchups. Kalani Brown got 19 minutes last game and is a strong value play. If Candace Parker were to play I would fade them all, though.

Seattle Storm Guards

Jewel Lloyd came back and only played eight minutes. If she were to get the start she would be a strong play on DraftKings at 7k. Other than that I have no interest with the murky minutes situation here.

Seattle Storm Forwards

Natasha Howard is a beast. Honestly it doesn’t matter if she is playing Elizabeth Cambage, she put up 50 on Fowles on the road. Mercedes Russell and Alysha Clark are still too cheap on FanDuel, but they seem to have limited ceilings.

Las Vegas Guards

Sydney Colson is out. That secures the minutes for Kelsey Plum, who is still too cheap on FanDuel. I also like Plum on DraftKings where her price has not caught up. Kayla McBride also is too cheap with the usage bump with Asa Wilson being out.

Las Vegas Forwards

Elizabeth Cambage at home without Wilson is a strong play. She just scored 45 plus vs Minnesota. DeAndre Hamby’s price is wrong on FanDuel and DraftKings with the minutes increase without Wilson, so play her.

Indiana Fever Guards

Tiffany Mitchell started last game but only got 23 minutes. I’m going to go back to her here as I think she starts again and is under priced on both sites. The reason for the reduction was Shenise Johnson came in and played well. For those of you new to WNBA DFS, Shenise was a good player two years ago before tearing up her knee. So I am inclined to think this might be for real. They are two of my favorite salary savers on the board, though I lean Mitchell if you have the cap.

Indiana Fever Forwards

Why Indiana refuses to play Theresa McCowan more than 20 minutes when she is their best player is beyond me. You can take a flier in a GPP and hope they wise up. Besides that Candace Dupree is too cheap for a rematch against her ex-wife.

Phoenix Mercury Guards

Assuming Diana Taurasi is still out, we also have Essence Carson out. Last game it was Sophie Cunningham who picked up a minutes bump and it was announced that she is slated to start. She is near the min on both sites and is playable. DeWanna Bonner is the best guard play on the slate in a great matchup.

Phoenix Mercury Guards

Britteny Griner has a great matchup. The only question is will she exert effort? Griner has disappointed in a ton of smash spots this year. If you are looking at Camille Little, she is fine. She will get 20 minutes in an easy matchup.

Cash Core (assuming Parker out): Wiese (FD), Nneka, Chiney, TRP, Griner, Bonner, Cambage Plum McBride Hamby

GPP: T Mitchell, S Johnson, Cunningham, Howard, Russell, Monty (FD) Dupree McCowan, C Gray
