CBB DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Core Plays | March 10

Stud Tier

David Duke ($9,000) — One of the elite-usage players in the country, Duke and Providence draw a solid matchup against DePaul. DePaul plays decent defense, but Providence still has a 70.25-point implied team total as a 7-point favorite over DePaul. Duke warrants consideration despite the 133.5-point over/under due to an elite 20.1% usage rate. He has played at least 35 minutes in three straight games and accounts for 26.4% of the shots, 26.3% of the rebounds, and 41.7% of the assists for Providence. With ample value to be found, jamming Duke with another stud provides an immense ceiling on today’s DraftKings and FanDuel slate.

Timmy Allen ($8,200) — Underpriced after playing in a 39-point blowout victory in Utah’s most recent game, Allen should improve upon his 13 points. Utah is a 7.5-point favorite over Washington in a game totaled at 144 points. Washington ranks 301st in defensive efficiency, which should allow Allen to take advantage of his 19.4% usage rate. On the year, Allen soaks up 23.7% of the team’s shots, 19.1% of the rebounds and 25.7% of the assists. Prior to the blowout win, Allen played at least 36 minutes and scored at least 15 points in back-to-back games.

Prentiss Hubb ($7,900) — Taking advantage of a solid game environment, Notre Dame has a 71.25-point implied team total despite being a 6.5-point underdog to North Carolina. While the Tarheels run a nasty rotation, Notre Dame feeds Hubb as many minutes as he can handle; he has played at least 37 minutes in three straight games. He has a 19.3% usage rate and accounts for 23.6% of the shots and 39.3% of the assists on the year. North Carolina ranks 214th in 3-point defense, and Hubb shoots 34% from deep and has attempted the most 3-pointers for Notre Dame this season. He looks like a sleeper to target in this projected high-scoring affair.

Mid-Priced Tier

Myreon Jones ($6,800) — One of the lower-tier Big Ten games, Penn State is a 6-point favorite over Nebraska in a game projected to score 146.5 points. Nebraska ranks 194th in defensive efficiency and typically paces up opposing teams. Like Notre Dame, Penn State runs a wild rotation outside of Jones. Jones saw his minutes jump back to 36 in Penn State’s most recent game. With a 20.2% usage rate, this combination of minutes and price make Jones a solid mid-priced option on today’s slate. Jones accounts for 20.7% of the shots and 17.5% of the assists in Penn State’s last three despite playing somewhat limited minutes.

Elijah Harkless ($5,700) — Taking advantage of an enormous implied team total, Oklahoma is an 11.5-point favorite over Iowa State in a game totaled at 140.5 points. Iowa State ranks 305th in defensive efficiency and plays with an above-average pace. While the blowout risk renders Austin Reaves ($9,300) a bit risky, some of the cheaper Oklahoma options make sense. In particular, Harkless has played at least 32 minutes in three straight games for Oklahoma. He also accounts for a 13.7% shot rate, 10.3% rebound rate and 30% assist rate in Oklahoma’s last three games. Harkless provides sleeper appeal for Oklahoma’s offense today.

David Johnson ($5,300) — Perhaps the most underpriced player on the entire slate, Johnson typically falls in the $7,000 range. After scoring 9 points in his return, Johnson scored 14 points in Louisville’s most recent game while taking a team-leading 17 shots. On the year, Johnson accounts for 19.1% of the shots, 13.7% of the rebounds and 27.6% of the assists for Louisville. Johnson also averages 34.9 minutes per game, making him a strong target tonight. He also functions as Louisville’s top 3-point shooter, which takes advantage of Duke defense that ranks 284th in perimeter defense.

Value Tier

Kobe Webster ($4,700) — On the other side of the Penn State game, Nebraska has a decent 70.25-point implied team total as a 6-point underdog. Penn State ranks 233rd in defensive efficiency, which benefits an uptempo Nebraska team. After Teddy Allen‘s departure, a number of Cornhuskers are underpriced. In particular, Webster and Thorir Thorbjarnarson ($4,600) look like values. Webster has played 29 and 34 minutes in Nebraska’s last two games. He has a 14.6% usage rate and now accounts for 21.1% of the shots and 14.8% of the assists in Nebraska’s last three games.

Tre’ Williams ($4,500) — Another lower-level Big Ten matchup, a depleted Minnesota team faces Northwestern as a 2.5-point underdog in a game totaled at 141.5 points. While Minnesota continues to miss players, this opens up value options for DFS. Williams in particular looks like a strong play after logging 35 and 38 minutes in back-to-back games. Williams possesses a 13.8% usage rate, 16.1% shot rate, 12.1% rebound rate and 17.2% assist rate in Minnesota’s last three games. With Northwestern ranking 216th in defensive efficiency, even the ancillary Minnesota CBB DFS picks should find success here.

Miller Kopp ($4,400) — On the other side, Northwestern also presents a usable value option in Kopp. Kopp has a 13.2% usage rate on the season but has seen a recent uptick in his involvement. Kopp has played at least 32 minutes in three straight games for Northwestern. He now accounts for a 21.3% shot rate and 16.7% rebound rate in that span. While Kopp doesn’t present the largest ceiling, he still takes advantage of a solid total and a depleted Minnesota team that already ranks 209th in defensive efficiency.
