College Football Betting: Tennessee CFB Picks + Breakdown | 12/5

College football betting fans are getting to the final stretch of the CFB season, and despite some COVID-19 issues, most teams continue to play games. We have three of the four Tennessee FBS schools on the schedule this week, including a Vanderbilt team looking to turn the page after making a midseason coaching change. The only team not on the schedule this week is Middle Tennessee State. The Blue Raiders had to cancel their game against UAB due to COVID-19 restrictions. The big game is Tennessee – Florida, but we also have a lopsided Vanderbilt – Georgia contest and an interesting Memphis – Tulane matchup on the college football betting picks board. Let’s get into some of the CFB picks and best bets.

CFB Matchup: Tennessee vs. Florida

Tennessee – Florida is a name-brand SEC East battle between two teams heading in different directions. This game is carrying a 62.5 total and is intriguing for college football betting. Tennessee is coming off a 13-point loss at Auburn. Despite battling throughout that contest, they were unable to break their losing streak, which now stands at five games. Sitting at 2-5 on the season, there aren’t many positives to look to, although a chance to end rival Florida’s playoff hopes certainly should keep the Volunteers interested.

Florida is sixth in the rankings with a 7-1 record. Their lone loss came at Texas A&M earlier in the year. Florida has the Heisman Trophy favorite under center in Kyle Trask. The star quarterback has multiple weapons on the outside, including a future pro in tight end Kyle Pitts. This offensive attack is going to test the Tennessee defense, which will try to keep the score respectable; the Volunteers offense hasn’t eclipsed the 20-point mark since their third game of the season. The spread is 17.5 points despite Tennessee playing at home; it is going to take a big leap forward on both sides of the ball to keep this one close. I like the under in this spot, as 62.5 is a lot of points with a Tennessee team really not contributing much offensively yet still providing some resistance on the defensive side of the ball.

CFB Best Bet: Under 62.5

CFB Matchup: Vanderbilt vs. Georgia

As bad as things look in Knoxville, it’s a whole different level of struggle for the Vanderbilt Commodores this season. They are 0-8 following a 41-0 loss last week to Missouri, after which the team decided to part ways with their coach Derek Mason. Vanderbilt now looks to avoid a winless season, but they couldn’t find a worse spot than travelling to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

The one positive for Vanderbilt is they are breaking in freshman quarterback Ken Seals, so the future is at least bright for the Commodores. The bad news is they are 35.5-point underdogs here, and it is very possible they will be unable to put any points on the board once again this week. Vanderbilt – Georgia could get ugly.

CFB Matchup: Memphis vs. Tulane

This may not be the best game on the Saturday slate, but for college football betting purposes it is interesting. Memphis is a slight road dog in a game against Tulane that is a virtual pick-’em. The Tigers are 6-2 on the season. Despite some key opt-outs, the team is putting together a quality 2020 campaign. Quarterback Brady White comes in with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. White still has a few strong playmakers on the outside despite the personnel losses. Memphis is coming off of a 10-7 win against Navy, which was a huge test in defending the option and stopping a run-heavy offensive attack, setting up Memphis – Tulane as an interesting struggle.

Tulane sits at 5-5 on the season, so this is a chance to finish above .500 and add a quality win to the resume. They aren’t a prolific passing attack, with just 17 touchdowns through the air in 10 games, but they are able to control games on the ground with their backfield. Tulane has two players north of 100 carries on the year and two others north of 60, which is a ton of guys seeing reliable work in the backfield. This should create an interesting matchup with the Memphis defense that just saw a Navy team calling almost exclusively running plays, so the front should be prepared for what they will see here. Memphis has allowed 4.1 yards per rush, which is a respectable number. I believe they are primed to limit the success of this Tulane offense, so out of all Memphis – Tulane bets, I will take the 1.5 points in a game the Tigers should win on the road. This is my favorite bet of the Tennessee teams this week.

CFB Best Bet: Memphis +1.5
