With 132 players in the field this week, there will be plenty of opportunities to find golfers that not a lot of gamers know about and create the edge necessary to score big this week at the American Express.
Let’s start by going over the top 10 projected golfers on the slate. Check out the entire field’s PGA DFS ownership projections before building fantasy golf lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

After a week at the Sony Open where pricing seemed to be perfect, there are once again questions this week. It starts right at the top with Jon Rahm and Patrick Cantlay, who, even as the Nos. 1 and 2 salaries on the board, are trending to be owned over 30%. They should be at these prices, as it is not often that the top salary on the board ends up as one of the best values, and that is what Awesemo projects this week.
They are not the only one is projected over 20% from this price range either, as gamers bet on continued form from Russell Henley. To a lesser extent, Corey Conners is also trending towards 20% or more this week, as his ball striking remained elite last week. After them, there will be a handful of golfers that come close to 20% but likely not over: Talor Gooch and Sungjae Im.
That leaves three golfers with projected ownership of around 10-15%:
- Scottie Scheffler
- Tony Finau
- Seamus Power
- Matthew Wolff

This week only two golfers are projected with less than 10% ownership from this price range: Abraham Ancer and Will Zalatoris. For Ancer, his missed cut last week was not like any others, bombing the last few holes to miss by 2. He has wonderful history at this course the previous two years, and a flip of the putter could put him right back there. For Zalatoris, his longer-term trend is not great right now, hence the lowest ownership of the bunch. Ancer seems to be in a better position for a good week this week given the uncertainty around Zalatoris.
PGA DFS Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 26 golfers
For the first time in quite some time, there are only four golfers priced under $9,000 this week that are going to be owned more than 10% — four golfers of the 140-plus still left in the field. That presents many different opportunities for low-owned golfers, even with playing the chalk up top in Cantlay and Rahm. The four golfers projecting over 10% right now are Patrick Reed, Taylor Moore, K.H. Lee and Luke List. A few others in this price range are projected just shy of 10%:
- Cameron Tringale
- Justin Rose
- Si Woo Kim
- Carlos Ortiz
- Russell Knox
With just seven golfers mentioned, there are just about 20 names from this price range that will be less than 10% owned. A few of the names that our Awesemo PGA DFS projections like are:
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout (Projected for 78.1 points)
- Gary Woodland (Projected for 74.9 points)
- Harold Varner III (Projected for 73.5 points)
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
Harold Varner continues to make strides in his golf game and looks poised to earn his first PGA Tour win. Projecting well and having low ownership are typically significant signals for a contrarian pick. Other contrarian picks from this price range include Lucas Glover, Chris Kirk and Doug Ghim.
PGA DFS Value Plays ($7,400 and Below)
- 100+ golfers
Moore and Lee have already been mentioned as some of the slate’s highest-owned golfers, just missing the top 10, and are the only two projected that high in this price range. Others getting close to that ownership are:
- Hayden Buckley
- Adam Svensson
- Vincent Whaley
- Tom Hoge
- Davis Riley
- Joseph Bramlett
Outside of these eight, none of the rest are going to be owned over 5%. Using Awesemo’s projections, the golfer with the highest projection not in those eight golfers is Kevin Streelman.
Be sure to check out how all of the Awesemo experts are ranking these golfers in the Pro Plays Tool.
