DraftKings and FanDuel Spotlight Hitters, Sunday 5/13

Josh Engleman

MLB picks: Our Yahoo MLB DFS Cheatsheets column highlights value plays in each price range for fantasy baseball lineups for July 7.

The following Spotlight Hitters were selected by’s Director of Content Josh Engleman. Please check back later for notes/additional picks from Awesemo himself.

Alex Bregman
FD: $3300
DK: $4100

While Matt Moore has shown reverse splits in his career, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s not very good. I’m looking to capitalize on that with Alex Bregman. There are multiple options from the Astros this afternoon, but I think Bregman is the best combination of talent and price. He’s had significantly more success versus lefties in his career, and I’m hoping that trend continues.

Anthony Rizzo
FD: $4300
DK: $4700

On paper, I absolutely love this matchup for Rizzo. Giolito just can’t seem to put together the stuff that made him the #1 prospect in baseball at one point. Rizzo gets the LHH/RHP matchup I crave, along with a spot in the order that should afford him multiple opportunities to drive in runners. If this were during the week, I’d pick him for “Did He Dong?”

Andrew Benintendi
FD: $3600
DK: $4200

It should come as no surprise that I’m targeting a hitter against Joe Biagini and the Blue Jays. Biagini isn’t known for missing bats, entering today’s game with 6.6 projected K/9 from Steamer. I’ll take the guy in the two hole for the Red Sox who gets the LHH/RHP bonus. You could easily make a case for Mookie Betts here, but I’ll take the savings that Benintendi brings.
