The following Spotlight Pitchers were selected by Awesemo.com writer Jake Hari. For more analysis on the slate, check out Awesemo’s Rankings and Ownership Projections.

Domingo German ($8,500 DK/$6,500 FD)

German is simply too cheap for the kind of talent and upside he has on any given slate. At only $8,500, he may have the best upside on the entire slate even against a Braves team that doesn’t strikeout much against righties. On the year, German has a 15.4% Swinging-Strike rate, 35.7% O-Swing rate, and ranks 7th in the MLB in Whiffs/Swing rate on the year. Even with lots of lefties in the Braves lineup, German should be able to get whiffs once again with his changeup and curve, which are both getting over 18% Whiffs against lefties on the year.

Shane Bieber ($9,600 DK/$8,200 FD)

Bieber is coming off 2 solid solid performances in which he was able to miss bats, posting Swinging-Strike rates of 13.1% and 18.6% as well as O-Swing rates of 34.6% and 34.7% against he Tigers and Cardinals. The 3.4 run total for the Royals is encouraging for Bieber, and we’ve noted how bad the Royals have been versus righties as of late. He’s not the best value, but Bieber does have upside tonight, as he should be able to throw over 100 pitches if things are going well, which we may not able to say is true for Clayton Kershaw, who many will go to for $2,400 more on DK.

Zack Wheeler ($8,100 DK/$7,900 FD)

Wheeler certainly isn’t the safest play, but at his price, he has the upside to pay big dividends if he can replicate what the kind of swing-and-miss stuff he’s had over his last few starts. Over his last 4 outings, he has a 35.9% O-Swing% with a 13.2% Swinging-Strike rate and just 26% Hard-Hit rate, as he’s posted at least 6 innings with 7 strikeouts in his last 3. The Blue Jays are a neutral matchup overall, but they have the 9th-highest K-rate on the year versus righties, so at low ownership, Wheeler makes for a nice pivot off of the chalkier options in his range.
