MMA DFS Picks: Core Plays
Mackenzie Dern | DraftKings: 9,300, FanDuel: $19
Dern is dangerous on the ground; she will work to find an opening and take her opponents back, where she can finish fights in a hurry. She throws straight right punches to the body and head, and she will follow with heavy hooks. Derns does have solid cardio, and she is tough with a solid chin. Awesemo’s Top Stacks tool makes Dern a slight leverage play on a slate with very few to choose from. He gives her 53% top-six odds vs. 50% ownership. Take what you can get.
Tim Elliott | DraftKings: $8,700, FanDuel: $18
Elliott is tough with a solid chin, he will throw calf kicks, round kicks to the body. He is an active grappler – great at moving and gaining control, while always looking to take his opponents to the mat. Elliott has eight submissions in his career, but he has been submitted three times. At 71.1 total points, Elliott is Awesemo’s sixth highest projected fighter on the slate.

MMA DFS Picks: Mid-Priced Picks
Jamahal Hill | DraftKings: $8,400, FanDuel: $17
Hill is a southpaw; he is a high-volume, throwing straight punches and using his jab. He throws uppercuts to set up his, straight-left, right hook combination that can be dangerous when landed clean. Hill showed that he could grapple when he fought Dequan Townsend, by taking his down and dominating him on the mat. Awesemo gives Hill a 52.2% chance to win.
MMA DFS Picks: Value Picks
Daniel Rodriguez | DraftKings: $7,300, FanDuel: $13
Rodriguez is a technical striker, and his overhand left is powerful and dangerous. He is a high-volume striker, by using his jab, one-two, left hook in combinations. Rodriguez throws a jab, right hook combination that will put his opponents lights out. At 82.9 projected fantasy points, Rodriguez is Awesemo’s fourth highest projected fighter on the slate. Awesemo also gives him a 61.3% chance at a knockout. Careful with Rodriguez though, when building lineups – Awesemo has him at a 53% chance of being a top-six fighter, with 71% ownership. You’ll need to pair him up with some other leverage plays to avoid mass duplication. Get creative and maybe leave some cash on the table.
Spike Carlyle | DraftKings $7,600, FanDuel $14
Carlyle is an aggressive and dangerous fighter. He throws nasty front kicks to the head and body, and a jab, straight-right hand that is dangerous. Carlyle will also throw a spinning backfit, that if landed clean will put his opponents lights out. Awesemo has him projected for 57.7 fantasy points on tonight’s slate.
