DraftKings F1 DFS Picks Today: Formula 1 Fantasy Racing
While there are quite a few unknowns in terms of the cars and what to truly expect come race day, we have plenty of lap times to look at from the previous spring testing in Barcelona and last week’s Bahrain testing sessions. Not only that, we have three Free Practice sessions and the first qualifying grid placement of the year. The Ferrari and Red Bull teams look like they will be the two fighting it out this weekend atop of the grid. Thus, they will be my priority F1 DFS picks and stacks, especially after utilizing our Awesemo expert F1 DFS projections to verify driving rankings.
Best F1 DFS Constructor Picks Today
All the talk from spring testing was true, Ferrari is ready to contend. The combination of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz turned in a very impressive first and third starting spots on the grid for Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix. The top three drivers were separated by just 0.129 seconds, while Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was 0.363 off the pace. In DraftKings F1 cash games and GPPs, I will be looking at doubling up on the Ferrari spots — rolling with a combination of Ferrari in the Constructors spot, and LeClerc or Sainz at the Captain spot. Both Ferrari cars have been near the lead in lap times all test sessions and both look to be firmly in competition for Sunday’s checkered flag.
Red Bull Racing ($10,800)
The 2021 World Champion driver Max Verstappen looked incredible for Red Bull on Saturday and will find himself on the front row for Sunday’s race. Verstappen finished just 0.123 behind Leclerc in the final qualifying on Saturday, but Verstappen is expected to push the two Ferraris in the race. Perez finished fourth in qualifying, making the top four a Ferrari and Red Bull sandwich. I am always a fan of rolling with Verstappen and stacking Red Bull as my constructors, as he needs to win and lead laps to pay off his top-driver salary. Perez is always a bit risky because Red Bull is very adamant that they have a No. 1 driver (Verstappen) and that he will be given priority during the race.
Best F1 DFS Driver Picks Today
Charles Leclerc ($10,800 DraftKings; 1st) & Carlos Sainz ($10,200; 3rd)
The Ferrari drivers are high up on my priority list this weekend. Both will be starting in the first two rows and while they won’t be passing many cars, Leclerc may get the chance to lead the most laps if he can hold off Verstappen in the early going.
Max Verstappen ($12,000 DraftKings; 2nd)
Verstappen is also a priority as he will find himself battling out with Leclerc in the early going to see who will lead this race. I expect Verstappen to be aggressive early. Since he is the highest-priced driver on DraftKings, it makes sense to CAP and stack the Red Bull Constructors if you are trusting his abilities. He’s also got hold on the No. 1 spot in the Awesemo DraftKings F1 DFS projections, coming in at 23.19 DraftKings points.
Valterri Bottas ($4,600 DraftKings; 6th)
Don’t look now, but former Mercedes driver Valterri Bottas is starting alongside Lewis Hamilton on Sunday. In their first race as true opponents, Bottas will want to prove his driving abilities on Sunday. The car had a troubled start to the spring session with many issues and question marks, but the fast lap times displayed in Saturday’s qualifying caught the eye of spectators and fans. Bottas may not end up as high as sixth, but the car has upside for the 15th-priced driver on Sunday. Not only that, he will be starting nine spots ahead of his teammate Guanyu Zhou ($2,400 DraftKings; 15th) which should be an easy five-point bonus if Bottas can finish the race.
Kevin Magnussen ($3,800 DraftKings; 7th)
From cast-a-way to starting in the top half of the grid. This HAAS team looks completely different than it did two years ago. Magnussen was invited back to the team a little while back after HAAS let go of Russian driver Nikita Mazepin after the invasions. Magnussen looks poised for a new start on his F1 journey and this car looks ready to compete. Magnussen finished just 1.250 behind Leclerc and 0.570 behind Hamilton on Saturday. He will also have a five-position head start over teammate Mick Schumacher. Magnussen is also a top five value play, according to our Awesemo F1 DFS projections for DraftKings, with almost a 2x return on his salary.

Mick Schumacher ($3,200 DraftKings; 12th)
Speaking of the HAAS team, Schumacher has looked quick in the early runnings. While he did not make it out of Q2, he was still able to post quick laps times in the testing in Bahrain last week. Schumacher has been someone I’ve had my eye on all through testing and this further confirms that the HAAS team is ready to compete. While his teammate is slightly more expensive and has a better starting spot, Schumacher is still worth a play at his discounted price.
Alex Albon ($2,800 DraftKings; 14th)
In the back of the value pack you are looking for someone who can beat his teammate and possibly overtake a couple driver in front of him. Alex Albon fits that mold. He has experience on the F1 circuit and while he is not driving a speedy Red Bull, the Williams didn’t look half bad this week. Albon is starting in 14th compared to his teammate Nicholas Latifi ($2,000 DraftKings; 20th), who is starting in last place and has had difficulties throughout testing. If you are stacking the Ferraris or Red Bulls this weekend as suggested, you will need to get a little dirty with the value bin. But, you could do much worse, as our F1 Fantasy projections have Albon as a Top 10 value play and a solid DraftKings F1 DFS pick.
