PG De’Aaron Fox — Grades: A, A | Values: B, A
Inefficient shooting and turnovers have the salary of De’Aaron Fox dropping. When the usage and role are both there, that is when the NBA daily fantasy sharks strike. Facing a poor Pelicans team tonight, it would not be surprising to see Fox score at a high clip. Fox will likely always commit turnovers, but he should be able to outperform them. If the stars align and he pours in shots while protecting the ball, this could be a massive game. Fox also has three straight games of over 60 NBA DFS points against the Pelicans. The ceiling his high for him tonight.
C Jonas Valanciunas — Grades: A, A | Values: B, A
In that same game, which has a projected total of 222.5, Jonas Valanciunas should soak up the rebounds. These matchups have the tendency to showcase a fast pace, and Valanciunas has shown a great ability to run the floor and has three straight games of at least 15 rebounds. Along with that, he has scored 15 or more points in each of those games, showcasing a usage rate of 22% or higher in three of his five games this season. Awesemo’s projections are predicting another high-point double-double for Valanciunas tonight.
SF Brandon Ingram — Grades: A, A | Values: B, A
Brandon Ingram has been the clear and obvious leader for this Pelicans this season, posting a usage rate of 29% or higher in four of the five games. He has attempted over 20 shots in each while also adding a bunch of rebounds and assists as well as the occasional defensive stat. Ingram is a strong play in any format on any site tonight. Awesemo’s projections expect Ingram to be the leading scorer in the game, at over 25 points.
C Precious Achiuwa — Grades: C, C | Values: B, A
With Pascal Siakam and Aron Baynes still out, the Raptors need Precious Achiuwa to play a lot of minutes, especially against a big Magic team. Not only is he playing minutes, but Achiuwa has also been heavily involved, posting a usage rate above 20% in three of his five games this season. He has double-digit rebounds in three of five games, and he has scored in double figures in four straight. He also can knock down the rare long-range shots, which he could use to his advantage in this matchup. Awesemo projects Achiuwa for 27.3 minutes tonight, which is a lot for his current price.
