In last night’s Martin Luther King Day NBA DFS slate, we had four games from DraftKings, with the main GPP being the $450K Fadeaway ($100,000 to first). There were 35,294 entries from 13,101 DFS players, 1,810 (13.8%) of which made a profit. Three of the eight most rostered players on the night cost at least $10,400, with Eric Gordon and Thaddeus Young playing the role as successful chalk value and James Wiseman playing the role as chalk landmine. Let’s get right into the NBA DraftKings Lineup review.

DFS Rewind: NBA DraftKings Lineup Review | Jan. 18
This was the first main slate we have had in awhile that did not feature extremely high-owned value plays due to COVID and/or contact tracing.
The Winner
Congratulations to 150-maxer ehafner, a longtime DFS player and no stranger to taking down GPPs. His lineup used all $50,000 salary and had a cumulative team ownership of 176.7%. Ehafner found low-owned value in Eric Paschall and Anthony Davis as it turns out. Chris Boucher continued his amazing fantasy play as well and ended up in another GPP winner. This lineup scored 331.75 and won the GPP by 0.50 points.

Salary and Ownership
Only one of the top 50 finishers used less salary than $49,700, and overall lineups trended to using more salary than normal in this GPP. Here are the top salaries used last night:
- $50,000 | 47%
- $49,900 | 25%
- $49,800 | 12%
- $49,700 | 7%
- $49,600 | 3%
Cumulative team ownership on this slate was concentrated between 175-240%. The most popular optimal lineup was played 35 times. Using $49,900 team salary and a cumulative team ownership of only 190.2%, it scored a 258.75 and did not cash. Apparently the optimizer used valued James Harden and Kevin Durant over everyone else, sacrificing upside by playing them together with no serious runback and slotting in D.J. Augustin and Ryan Arcidiacono value:
The 150-Maxers
Sixty-three 150-maxers entered 9,450 lineups, making up 26.7% of entries in this tournament. Fifteen made a profit, taking first, fourth (twice), seventh, eighth and 10th. Only eight 150-maxers cashed 20 lineups or fewer.
Miscellaneous
Boom of the slate goes to Young, who put up 29.75 fantasy points (7.8x) for $3,800 at 43.7% ownership. Bust of the slate goes to Wiseman, who put up 9.25 fantasy points (2x) for $4,600 at 30.2% ownership.
Eighty-seven lineups were reserved and not played. The lowest-owned lineup that cashed (min-cashed) featured a cumulative team ownership of 65.2%:
The lowest-salary team that cashed (min-cashed) used $47,700 team salary and featured five Bulls:
The best possible lineup you could have played last night scored a 339.25 while using a team salary of $50,000. This lineup would have won by 7.5 fantasy points:
