Yesterday was a big day for NFL, but we still had a fun NBA DFS slate. The slate was six games until the Celtics – Heat game was canceled, leaving us with a five-gamer. Key to the slate was DeMar DeRozan being out, creating a lot of Spurs value. Let’s get right into the NBA DraftKings Lineup review.

DFS Rewind: NBA DraftKings Lineup Review | Jan. 10
The main DraftKings GPP was the NBA $400K Fadeaway ($100,000 to first). There were 28,404 entries played by 10,109 unique players, of which 12.9% made a profit.
The Winner
Congratulations to dacoltz, who won this GPP by 5.5 points with a 330. Dacoltz, who happens to be Director of Finance at Awesemo, is no stranger to taking down GPPs. He was a 150-maxer in this GPP, cashing 84 entries for a profit of $100,928. This lineup is interesting because it has no player less than $4,200 in salary on a night when there were multiple low $3,000 punts available. That and John Wall were the only surprises to me in the winner last night. You can see the winning lineup used $49,800 salary and had a cumulative team ownership of 171.4%.

Salary and Ownership
Nine of the top 50 finishers used $49,700 team salary or less. Here are the top salaries used last night:
- $50,000 | 44%
- $49,900 | 24%
- $49,800 | 13%
- $49,700 | 7%
- $49,600 | 4%
Cumulative team ownership on the top 50 was really wide for a five game slate (160-220%). I would chalk this up to some low-owned players that went off on this slate:
- Kent Bazemore 7.6x at 3.3%
- Talen Horton-Tucker 10.5x at 2%
- P.J. Dozier 8.2x at 4.2%
We also had lineups in the top 10 that used between one and four Spurs. There were a lot of ways to get there last night if you were able to avoid the landmines. The most popular optimal lineup was played 52 times and came in at 247.4% cumulative team ownership. Featuring five Spurs players, it did not cash:
The 150-Maxers
Sixty-three 150-maxers entered 9,450 lineups, making up 33.3% of entries in this tournament. Seventeen made a profit, taking first through third, fifth, seventh and eighth. Only three 150-maxers cashed fewer than 20 lineups. Here are the top 10 players rostered by 150-maxers:
Miscellaneous
Boom of the slate goes to Horton-Tucker, who provided 35.75 fantasy points (10.5x) for $3,400 at 2% ownership. Bust of the slate easily goes to 63.7%-rostered Dejounte Murray, who put up 24 fantasy points (3.5x) for $6,800.
One hundred fifty lineups were reserved and not played. The lowest-owned lineup that cashed (min-cashed) featured a cumulative team ownership of 43.8%:
The lowest salary team that cashed (min-cashed) used $48,200 team salary:
The best lineup by a single entry player scored a 315.5, good for 10th place.
The best possible lineup you could have played last night scored 359.25 while using a team salary of only $49,300. This lineup would have won by 29.50 fantasy points:
