Prime Time Players

Russell Westbrook and James Harden: Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Westbrook: DraftKings $10,100, FanDuel $10,500, Yahoo $48; Ownership Rating (preliminary run): Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 28.3%, FanDuel 26.1% Yahoo 31.0%

Harden: DraftKings $11,300, FanDuel $11,200, Yahoo $53; Ownership Rating (preliminary run): Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 18.9%, FanDuel 38.5% Yahoo 39.3%

While I prefer Russell Westbrook over James Harden, by no means am I trying to get away from Harden tonight. Westbrook gets the nod for both the 5-10% price discount on your site of choice as well as his current high level of play. On the season, Westbrook leads the league with 20.5 drives per game and those have become even more effective now that Clint Capela and his defender are no longer taking up space around the basket.

Since Jan. 15, Westbrook has played 19 games and sat out five. By not playing him on back-to-backs this season, Houston is doing their best to help keep him healthy. In this stretch he is averaging 37.2 minutes per game and 1.53 fantasy points per minute. The raw numbers are impressive with 32.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 2.1 combined blocks/steals. By now we are all acutely aware of how good the matchup is for teams taking on the Timberwolves, so there is ample reason to make Westbrook our prime time player tonight.

In this same time frame, Harden has played 22 games, missing two with injury. He is averaging 36.0 minutes per game and 1.48 fantasy points per minute on 28.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 2.6 combined blocks/steals. One concern is that he has not topped 36.4% from the field in any of his last four games, but that should course correct closer to his 43.3% season average soon enough.

Good Value

Derrick White: San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks

DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $4,800, Yahoo $14; Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 22.1%, FanDuel 15.3% Yahoo 33.0%

Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker IV are both ruled out for this game which means that two guard positions should be manned by a combination of Derrick White, Patty Mills and Bryn Forbes. Marco Belinelli is likely to be available after missing the last three games, but it is hard to see him with more than 10-12 minutes.

On the season, White has been a 0.92 fantasy point per minute producer. Generally his upside this season has been capped by a reluctance from coach Gregg Popovich to play White and Murray together as evidenced by just 101.6 minutes of shared court time this season and a third of that coming in the last three weeks. That is not a concern tonight which makes White an intriguing play.

Risky Value

Shaq Harrison: Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $4,900, Yahoo $15; Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 18.5%, FanDuel 30.1% Yahoo 47.4%

This play is all about the price and minutes, but they come with a heavy dose of volatility. With his price tag continuing to trend up, a lot of the safety has been removed when considering Shaq Harrison‘s mercurial production that can completely disappear without any notice. Harrison has topped 28 minutes in each of his last three starts with a 1.10 fantasy points per minute rate. That is in line with his season-long rate and we know he produced down the stretch the last two season he was in Phoenix.

By no means is Harrison a must-play, but he is a reasonable building block against a Cavaliers squad that seems content to play with a short rotation. Just know that he can disappear with no warning and we have a new variable of Coby White joining the starting lineup for the first time this season.

Yahoo Fantasy NBA DFS Discount Dandies

  1. D.J. Augustin: Orlando Magic at Memphis Grizzlies – $11
  2. Troy Brown Jr.: Washington Wizards vs. New York Knicks – $10
  3. Patty Mills and Bryn Forbes: San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks – $10

NBA DFS Picks: SuperDraft

  1. Anthony Davis: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Brooklyn Nets – 1.15x multiplier
  2. Devin Booker: Phoenix Suns at Portland Trailblazers – 1.35x multiplier
  3. Stephen Curry: Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Clippers – 1.45x multiplier

Our standout SuperDraft recommendations for today include Anthony Davis who is somehow getting a 15% boost on his fantasy production. Devin Booker is also in play in what should be an up-tempo affair against the Trail Blazers, as is Stephen Curry with a 45% kicker and the ability to efficiently rack up the fantasy production, even in limited minutes.

Final Thoughts

While nothing can top the insanity of yesterday with one game going into overtime, one game where all of the key players were last-minute scratches and one game where the key pivots were injured or underperformed, there is no shortage of pending news and uncertainty.
