The Boston Celtics have a chance to close out the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and punch their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on DraftKings and FanDuel. Below, we will examine the player pool and break down the best NBA DFS picks today for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.
DraftKings & FanDuel NBA DFS Picks Today (5/27)
Jayson Tatum | Boston Celtics
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 49.16 | FanDuel: 46.87
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 75.1% | FanDuel: 61.7%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $11,000 | FanDuel: $16,000
Why, yes, I am recommending the most expensive option who has the best fantasy projection. To be fair, this is the first time I am not featuring Jaylen Brown in the top slot for the first time in the last four games. My worry had been that Jayson Tatum seemed to be impacted by his shoulder/neck issue and that was a source of consternation with me. However, after back-to-back 50-fantasy-point outings, it is not comfortable creating a “main” lineup without the budding superstar in the highest multiplier slot. Boston is favored by 8.5 points, but we have seen lopsided games in both directions with both the home and road teams winning in the first five games of this series.
It seems like the injuries have finally caught up with the Heat, though they are unlikely to go quietly into the night. Tatum should be a near lock for at least 40 fantasy points, and he is the odds on favorite to post the top score of the night. Finally, if we needed any more convincing, he also has the best point-per-dollar projection of any player on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Bam Adebayo | Miami Heat
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 36.17 | FanDuel: 36.06
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 56.8% | FanDuel: 43.8%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,800 | FanDuel: $13,000
It would seem that while Bam Adebayo is the one Miami player who has not seen his name in the injury report — however, he may be having some hesitancy when it comes to looking for his own offensive opportunities. In the last seven games (final two of the Philadelphia series included), the 25-year-old forward has taken more than seven field goal attempts only twice. In Game 3 when Jimmy Butler was held out of the second half with knee soreness and on Wednesday. During this span of games, those were also his only two performances that exceeded 26 fantasy points. Tonight, the only way for the Heat to avoid elimination is for Adebayo to do more than just rebound.
Al Horford | Boston Celtics
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 32.35 | FanDuel: 32.36
- Awesemo’s Preliminary Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 55.7% | FanDuel: 39.4%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,200 | FanDuel: $13,000
The discount from Brown to Al Horford is a sizable 20% on DraftKings and not really worth it at just 8% on FanDuel. So on the Blue site, look to Brown where finding an extra $1,000 is less daunting than on DraftKings. Horford has been active on defense for the entire playoffs with 11 of his 15 game logs boasting two or more blocks and steals. He has been phenomenal on the boards covering for the ailing Robert Williams and also chipping in on offense when necessary. The only knock against Horford is that he will likely be the first veteran who heads to the bench if this game gets lopsided as expected. Next week, Horford will be celebrating his 36 birthday, which easily makes him the elder stateman among the likely NBA Finals participants.
NBA DFS Discount Dandies
Miami Heat
- Max Strus: It is unlikely that Tyler Herro plays again this season and we saw Kyle Lowry end up with negative fantasy points in 25 minutes last game. Strus is a strong option for his very palatable salary.
- Gabe Vincent, Victor Oladipo and Duncan Robinson: All three can be in the tournament mix in the hopes of catching lightning in a bottle or the Heat desperately searching for offensive options.
- Caleb Martin: DraftKings only, but at $1,200 he should see enough minutes to flirt with double-digit fantasy points.
While Kyle Lowry seems like a scary option in the DFS world, he does have an interesting wager available in the NBA player props market. Currently he has a 2.5 over/under on his rebound prop and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 3.5 rebounds, which gives him a 68% probability of surpassing the over.
Boston Celtics
- Grant Williams: The jack-of-all-trades guy continues to get minutes and he is not afraid to look for offensive opportunities, even when he his far from the best choice on the floor.
- Derrick White: If Smart is ailing again, White should likely see extra minutes as well as upside during mop-up duty.
- Payton Pritchard:Â Garbage time and the injury or reduced playing time for Smart keep him on the radar tonight.
