The NBA Slate Starter: NBA DFS Strategy for DraftKings + FanDuel | Tuesday, 4/13

Monday was all about point guards, as the likes of Russell Westbrook, De’Aaron Fox and Stephen Curry went from ceiling games that were musts to have in tournaments. Those who played value roulette and landed on any combination of those three were certainly rewarded. And yet it was another victory for late swappers, as Naji Marshall went excessively owned across the industry despite plenty of time to adjust to the news he wasn’t starting. Stay on your toes, folks, as anyone in the Awesemo community was given ample heads up by Alex Baker himself in the Premium Slack chat. However, it’s a new day, so let’s find ourselves a few NBA DFS picks and strategies to keep this solid run going over on DraftKings and FanDuel.

NBA DFS Slate Starter: Picks & Strategy | April 13

Hawk the Hawks Situation

Today’s six-gamer feels like a “hurry up and wait” sort of slate. There are some key pieces of pending injury news that could break instantly in the morning and put gamers at ease, or could keep them waiting until mere moments before lock. There is no way of knowing right now which one it will be, but even though there are no true stud in $10,000 range on either site tonight, pricing is tough enough across the industry that we’ll need all the value we can get for our NBA DFS lineups.

The most important domino to fall today may very well be Trae Young, who is questionable with a bruised left calf that kept him out of Sunday’s win against the Hornets. If he plays, he should be a featured part of lineups. But if he sits, nearly the entire Atlanta team profiles better from a fantasy perspective, especially backup point guard Brandon Goodwin. With Rajon Rondo now on the Clippers, the Hawks turned to Goodwin for 37 minutes in relief duty on Sunday. Considering he is still under $4,000 on both sites tomorrow, he would most likely be the highest-owned player on the slate should Young sit.

But Goodwin is not the only guy worth considering in Young’s absence. Bogdan Bogdanovic has come alive of late, although he carries a $6,800 salary on DraftKings and $7,200 on FanDuel as a result. Lou Williams and Kevin Huerter make for solid tournament darts, although neither feels particularly fun to roster of late. Clint Capela continues to see crazy run with no John Collins or Danilo Gallinari in the mix, so he looks fantastic as well. And of all people to put out into the world, Solomon Hill could be a popular source of savings regardless of what happens with Young.

Fortunately, their matchup with the Raptors is at the 7:30 p.m. EST lock time, so there should be plenty of time to react. Refresh Awesemo’s projections early and often tomorrow in the aftermath of however this news shake out, as there are certain to be tons of fluctuations in ownership and leverage.

Thunder and Enlightening

Another day, another Oklahoma City Thunder situation. But contrary to the revolving door of options at shooting guard and small forward with them of late, gamers should look to the frontcourt this time around. Take a peek at PopcornMachine.net from Oklahoma City’s last game on Saturday, a 117-93 loss to the 76ers:

First thing of note is Aleksej Pokusevski leaving with an arm injury eight minutes into the game. He has already been ruled out, so that should open up extra run for the likes of Jaylen Hoard and Kenrich Williams. However, neither really brings intrigue tomorrow, as there are enough minutes sharing going on at the three to make it less of a worthwhile endeavor at their current price tags …

… Which leads to Darius Bazley. He received a surprising 36 minute workload in his first game back since March 4 and operates almost exclusively at the four. Averaging 0.85 fantasy points per minute on the season, he grades out exceptionally well at only $5,500 over on DraftKings. Sure, this Jazz matchup is brutal, but there is no question he deserves the highest minutes projection on the team. Lock and load on both sites.

But the most important thing to talk about above is the split center minutes between Moses Brown and Tony Bradley, who never shared the court. Had the game stayed closer, the assumption is Brown would have received the lion’s share of minutes, but who really knows at this point? Both are in line for viable workloads on Tuesday, but due to some large salary disparities between the sites, make sure to roster them where they’re priced more advantageously. That makes Bradley’s $4,000 salary on DraftKings and Brown’s $5,100 tag on FanDuel the preferred way to go.

Final Thoughts for Your NBA DFS Lineups

  • There does not look to be any injury news to wait on in the 10 p.m. ET late-night hammers, which is a shame for late swap purposes. Still, react to how lineups are doing, meaning pivot off any major chalk in struggling lineups after the early session of games.
  • Malcolm Brogdon‘s last three games on DraftKings: 18.75, 23.50, 62.75. Get ready for some recency bias like never seen before.
  • Just play Paul George.
