It is always important to find value for DFS lineups. What is also important is finding value with a reasonable upside, especially for tournaments. This article digs into the cheap players in the Awesemo NFL DFS projections that have the best points-per-dollar ratings. Using those projections, here are the top Week 12 NFL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.
Best Low-Priced NFL DFS Value Picks for Week 12
FanDuel Value Quarterback: Jimmy Garoppolo — $6,500
Garoppolo is popping as the best value in Awesemo’s projections on FanDuel this week. His 49ers are implied for 26.3 points, second best on the Week 12 main slate. Garoppolo has been fine since retaking the starting job, scoring at least 15 FanDuel points in four straight games. At his bargain price, that is a solid score. He also has upside for more, as evidenced by his 20-point performances against Chicago and Arizona. Those games were with Elijah Mitchell in the lineup. Mitchell is expected to return this week, which should benefit Garoppolo — not necessarily because the offense is better with Mitchell (though it is), but because that means the return of Deebo Samuel to the wide receiver position. Samuel’s big-play ability helps Garoppolo’s stat lines tremendously.
Any time a quarterback with such a high total is priced so cheaply, they will stand out as a value. Garoppolo is no exception.
DraftKings Value Quarterback: Cam Newton — $5,600
Newton looks like his former-MVP self in Carolina. He scored three touchdowns in only nine snaps in his debut. He followed that up with a solid 26 DraftKings points last week. He looked good as a thrower for the first time in a long time, completing 77% of his passes on 7 yards per attempt and throwing two touchdowns. Naturally, he added 46 yards and a score on the ground.
This week his Panthers are favored against a mediocre Dolphins defense. Newton should continue to serve as the Panthers goal-line running back while tossing passes to the explosive trio of D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson and Christian McCaffrey. For some reason, DraftKings has failed to raise his price much, with other sites pricing him much higher. That makes him stand out in Awesemo’s projections in Week 12.
FanDuel Value Running Back: Dontrell Hilliard — $5,500
Following the release of Adrian Peterson and the injury to Jeremy McNichols, it is a two-man backfield in Tennessee. Hilliard is the more valuable of the two, though. He out-targeted D’Onta Foreman 10-1 in Week 11, while mixing in for an equal seven carries. Hilliard had to be on the field in obvious passing situations. However, that is unlikely to be the case this week, with the Titans as 7-point underdogs to the Patriots.
Additionally, A.J. Brown is out for the Titans, meaning more vacated targets. Some of those are likely to head Hilliard’s way. Hilliard leads all running backs in value in Awesemo’s projections for FanDuel contests in Week 12.
DraftKings Value Running Back: Miles Sanders — $5,100
Sanders’ usage has been all over the place this season, seeing as few as two carried even when fully healthy. However, the Eagles may be willing to give him a chance as a feature back. Last week in his return from injury, he handled 16 carries against the Saints. Despite the Saints being the league’s best rush defense by DVOA, Sanders performed well, running for 5.9 yards per carry.
This week against a significantly easier (30th) Giants run defense, Sanders sets up extremely well. The Eagles are favored, which should mean more running plays. Jordan Howard is also out, which limits the chances that Sanders is vultured at the goal line. Sanders trails only Hilliard in value on DraftKings in Awesemo’s projections.
Fellow Awesemo NFL writer Eric Lindquist uses the premium Boom/Bust tool to help find some of the best plays on the slate. In this week’s article, he also LOVES Sanders in this matchup without Howard suiting up. Check out his full breakdown of Sanders for Week 12 lineups in his Slate-Breaking NFL DFS Picks.

FanDuel Value Wide Receiver: Brandin Cooks — $6,500
Cooks has an ideal matchup this week against the Jets’ 32nd-ranked pass defense. Referring to Cooks as a bright spot this season is a bit generous, but he has been the best offensive player for the struggling Texans. They have peppered him with targets, and his 28.7% share is fifth in the league. They have been mostly inefficient targets from quarterback Davis Mills, but they are targets, nonetheless.
Tyrod Taylor is back under center, though, which should be an improvement for Cooks. Given the nature of the matchup, Cooks should have a solid game here. He ranks second among wide receivers in Awesemo’s projections for value on FanDuel this week.
DraftKings Value Wide Receiver: Michael Pittman Jr. — $5,600
Pittman is the unquestioned top receiver for the Colts, with 28 more targets than any other player. That is a good sign on a week in which the Colts could be forced to pass more than usual. Their Week 12 opponent, Tampa Bay, faces the highest opponent pass rate in the league. The Colts would love to run their offense through running back Jonathon Taylor, but as underdogs against a tough pass defense, that may not be possible.
Pittman has also been more productive than his Week 12 salary would suggest, with four games over 20 DraftKings points on the season. It is a good time for another one, as the Buccaneers depleted secondary could have trouble with the Colts star. He stands out in Awesemo’s projections for DraftKings wide receivers. He ranks second, behind only Cooks. However, Pittman is the much safer choice in Week 12.
