NFL DFS Wild Card Weekend has finally arrived, and it’s time to talk strategy. Stacking a quarterback with one of more of his pass catchers provides a solid way to add upside to a daily fantasy football lineup. Part of the selection process for these picks comes from analyzing Awesemo’s top stacks tool for Wild Card Weekend for NFL DFS on both DraftKings and FanDuel. With two full slates of games, here are a few top stacks among the NFL DFS picks worth considering on the Saturday slate.

NFL DFS Top Stacks: Wild Card Weekend

Top Stack: Buffalo Bills

Easily the most explosive offense on the Saturday slate, Buffalo enters Wild Card Weekend with a 28.75 implied team total. They are favored by 6.5 points over the Colts, and the game has a 51-point game total. On the season Buffalo ranked second in points per game (31.3) thanks to one of the NFL’s most improved quarterbacks. Far and away the top projected stack using Awesemo tools, the Bills look like a team to target despite elevated ownership.

At quarterback, Josh Allen has shown drastic improvement year over year. Allen completed 69.2% of his passes for 7.9 yards per attempt this year. With both marks ranking top five in the NFL, Allen possesses the highest ceiling on this slate. Allen already has eight 300-yard passing performances this year while adding dual-threat ability as a rusher.

In the receiver room, Stefon Diggs stands out as the top wide receiver on this slate. Diggs finished the regulars season first in targets (168), receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535). With an absurd 29.3% target share, Diggs functions as Allen’s alpha pass catcher. Behind Diggs, John Brown returned to the starting lineup after injury and a brief stay on the COVID-19 reserve list. Brown received four targets in his return but should build on that heading into the playoffs with his 16.9% target share. Brown could also see elevated work if Cole Beasley misses this game. Missing Wednesday’s practice, a potential Beasley absence puts Gabriel Davis squarely in play.

With a multitude of stacking options, Bills stacks are the highest-projected stack on the Saturday Wild Card Weekend DFS slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Top Stack: Tampa Bay

Coming in with the second-highest team total, Tampa Bay also has the second-highest chance of finishing as the top stack on the Saturday slate. Tampa Bay is a 7.5-point road favorite over the Washington Football Team in a game totaled at 44.5 points. Still, Tampa Bay has shown explosive potential, scoring at least 31 points in each of their final three games this season.

Despite playing in his age-43 season, Tom Brady continues to defy Father Time. Brady completed 65.7% of his passes for 7.6 yards per attempt in 2020. While Brady started the season slow, his play improved down the stretch. Brady eclipsed 300 yards passing in each of his last three games and four of his last five. Brady also holds a 12-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his last four games, making him one of the hottest quarterbacks in football.

As for stacking options, the status of Mike Evans weighs heavily on this offense. After suffering a hyper-extended knee, Evans missed practice early in the week. Despite the limitations, Evans will reportedly attempt to play. If active, Evans leads the team with 109 targets. Behind Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown make sense. Godwin finished the season with a team-leading 18.9% target share in healthy games, while Brown had at least five targets in each of Tampa Bay’s final four games. Rob Gronkowski also provides leverage after receiving just six combined targets in his last two games.

With multiple stacking options and the second-highest implied team total on the slate, Tampa Bay is a solid team to stack on the Saturday DFS slate.

Value Stack: Los Angeles

For those looking at cheap contrarian stacks, look no further than Los Angeles. While Jared Goff is questionable, even backup John Wolford provides some intrigue in this spot. Los Angeles is just a 3.5-point underdog against the Seahawks. The Rams are basically unowned on a three-game slate, and they bring GPP appeal to Wild Card Weekend DFS.

Goff will be just under two weeks removed from thumb surgery when the Rams kick off on Saturday. While he continues to practice on a limited basis, Goff looks like a true game-time decision. The Rams have been extremely sensitive to game script in Sean McVay’s time as play caller. Just last year, Goff tied for a league-leading 626 pass attempts. Even this year, Goff continues to complete 67% of his passes for 7.2 yards per attempts.

Even if Goff doesn’t get the nod, Wolford offers cheap contrarian appeal. Last week, Wolford threw the ball 38 times in a competitive game against the Cardinals. Unlike Goff, Wolford offers dual-threat ability. In college at Wake Forest, Wolford eclipsed 1,200 yards rushing in his final two seasons. Wolford also rushed for 56 yards last week. With Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp both receiving north of 23% of the targets, both make intriguing stacking options within this Rams’ offense.

While unlikely to finish as the top stack, Los Angeles provides enough leverage at a cheap cost to be viable in tournaments on the Saturday DFS slate this weekend.
