NFL DFS Week 2 First Look | DraftKings + FanDuel

NFL DFS First Look: Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson, BAL at HOU (DraftKings: $8,200, FanDuel: $9,500): The Ravens won a laugher against the Browns with Jackson once again leading the way with an efficient effort. He completed 20-of-25 pass attempts for three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also chipped in seven carries for 45 yards, leaving him with an impressive final stat line. This is another ideal matchup for him to be productive against the Texans, who allowed the fourth-most passing yards per game last year and were picked apart by the Chiefs in their first game of 2020.

Josh Allen, BUF at MIA (DraftKings: $6,700, FanDuel: $8,200): Talk about an easy start to the season for Allen. He faced the Jets on Sunday, a team who lost a couple of key players on their defense during the offseason. He exploited that weakness by throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns while also compiling 57 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Like Jackson, his dual-threat skill set makes him an extremely appealing option in DFS. Now he’ll look to post another productive game against the Dolphins, who were torched by another mobile quarterback in Cam Newton when finished with 75 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns Sunday.

NFL DFS First Look: Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey, CAR at TB (DraftKings: $10,000, FanDuel: $10,500): The question this week is whether or not McCaffrey is worth his lofty salary on both sites. His contributions in the passing game weren’t great in Week 1, but he did carry the ball 23 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. On paper, this is a tough matchup against the Buccaneers since they allowed the fewest rushing yards per game last season. They limited Alvin Kamara to 16 yards on 12 carries Sunday, but he did chip in with 51 receiving yards and two total touchdowns. Still, this might be the one week to fade McCaffrey. In two meetings with the Bucs last season, he finished with 110 total yards and two touchdowns.

Jonathan Taylor, IND vs. MIN (DraftKings: $5,700, FanDuel: $5,800): Entering this season, Taylor was at least expected to start out by splitting carries with Marlon Mack. However, with Mack suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1, Taylor is now in line for a featured role. He showed that he can contribute heavily in the passing game after Mack went down, catching all six of his targets for 67 yards against the Jaguars. This may be one of the few weeks where you can add him to your entry at a reasonable salary given his upside.

NFL DFS First Look: Wide Receivers

Davante Adams, GB vs. DET (DraftKings: $8,100, FanDuel: $8,600): There are few receivers in the league with as high of a floor as Adams. The Packers’ pass-catching options outside of him leave a lot to be desired, which is the reason why he received a whopping 17 targets in their opener with the Vikings. He cashed them in for 14 catches, 156 yards and two touchdowns. This is another great matchup for him against the Lions, who gave up three passing touchdowns to the underwhelming Mitchell Trubisky on Sunday.

Russell Gage, ATL at DAL (DraftKings: $4,800, FanDuel: $5,400): With regards to something that you don’t see too often, the Falcons had three wide receivers with at least 110 receiving yards in Week 1. That included Gage, who caught nine of 12 targets for 114 yards. He’s the third wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, but this is a team who might need to throw a lot to make up for their bad defense. That was the case against the Seahawks since they gave up 38 points, which forced Matt Ryan to attempt 54 passes. They are facing another potent offense in the Cowboys, so Gage could be busy once again, making him an appealing budget-friendly option.

Mike Williams, LAC vs. KC (DraftKings: $4,200, FanDuel: $5,800): After it was initially reported that Williams could miss most of September with a shoulder injury, he had a quick recovery that enabled him to play in Week 1. He not only took the field, but he was busy, catching four of nine targets for 69 yards. This could be a rough week for the Chargers’ defense, which might force Tyrod Taylor to open up the passing game in an attempt to keep up with the Chiefs. Williams’ salary is extremely appealing on DraftKings, so he’s definitely someone to at least have on your radar there.

NFL DFS First Look: Tight Ends

Mark Andrews, BAL at HOU (DraftKings: $6,300, FanDuel: $7,500): Andrews was a touchdown machine last year, scoring 10 of them in 15 games. He started off this season on the same path with two touchdowns against the Browns. He’s one of Jackson’s favorite targets and should be able to exploit the Texans’ defense, so stacking him with Jackson could be a wise cash-game strategy.

Hunter Henry, LAC vs. KC (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel$6,100): Henry was almost as busy as Williams, receiving eight targets in the Chargers’ season opener. He finished with five catches for 73 yards, although he failed to reach the end zone with Taylor not playing all that well. Talent has never been the question with Henry, it’s been his ability to stay healthy. With his heath not being a problem right now, he could shine in Week 2 as the Chargers try to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes and company.
