Week 2 of the NFL is here, and Awesemo has a ton of great tools and NFL DFS strategy to help tackle all the largest contests in DFS. This article will look at who the best projected plays are on Awesemo for this Week 2 matchup of the Ravens vs. Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The game line around many sportsbooks has the Chiefs as -4 favorites and the game at a 54.0 over/under. Kansas City has a 29.25 implied team total, which is fifth highest of Week 2. There is some history between these two teams, as they have played each other in each of the past three seasons. The Chiefs have won all three matchups, and Patrick Mahomes has thrown for over 370 yards in all three games.
Week 1 Sunday NFL DFS Picks for Yahoo
Superstar: Travis Kelce (Superstar Price: $30)
Travis Kelce was upstaged a bit in Week 1 by Tyreek Hill, but the stage is set for the pendulum to shift in his direction in Week 2. The Ravens defense has been poor at stopping receptions to tight ends for over a year, and they again showcased that inefficiency in Week 1 by allowing Darren Waller to bring in 10 catches. Kelce is the only tight end who gets more targets than Waller, and he also has Mahomes throwing him the ball. Kelce is not cheap here, but he is also tied for the third-cheapest stud in this game, which has four clear elite plays. Not only does going Kelce over Hill save money at the top here, but this is a week where the matchup should favor Kelce, and their Awesemo projections are not far apart. He rates as a great Superstar target here.
Awesemo DFS Projection: 9.31 targets
Superstar: Lamar Jackson (Superstar Price: $30)
Lamar Jackson has struggled against the Chiefs and was completely stymied by their pass defense last season, throwing for under 100 yards on 28 pass attempts. Still, even in that game Jackson was not a complete bust, as he also ran for 83 yards. Given his lack of real-world success against the Chiefs, some may even fail to recognize how good of a value he is here at just $30 on Yahoo. Jackson again struggled with inefficiency passing in Week 1 (63% completion against a weak pass defense in the Raiders) but added his typical rushing upside, going for 86 yards on 12 carries. Given the Ravens’ running back injuries, Jackson may set career highs in rush attempts in 2020. With the Ravens set as big underdogs on Monday, late rushing could push him to be the highest scorer in this game, making him a great Superstar pivot from the chalky Chiefs players.
Awesemo DFS Projection: 61.38 yards and 0.59 touchdowns rushing
Flex: Patrick Mahomes (Flex Price: $39)
Mahomes on a single-game slate does not need much explanation. Even if pivoting off him in the Superstar spot, finding a spot for him in the Flex is still warranted. Mahomes has the second-highest Yahoo projection of any player in Week 2 and has owned the Ravens in the regular season dating back to 2018. Last season teams threw the ball 36.6 times per game against Baltimore (sixth highest in the league), and Week 1 saw Derek Carr attempt 56 passes against. He will be highly owned, but with a lack of skill players to choose from on Baltimore, Mahomes also feels like a near must-roster on this single-game slate.
Awesemo DFS Projection: 312.8 yards and 2.51 touchdowns passing
Flex: Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Flex Price: $18)
Clyde Edwards-Helaire can sometimes be the forgotten man in the Chiefs offense, which typically features some of the heaviest passing volume in the league. The running back position for Kansas City can be very productive for fantasy, though, and Edwards-Helaire seems to have a huge grip on the volume. On top of playing on 72% of the snaps, Edwards-Helaire also was the only running back on the Chiefs to see targets in the pass game (three receptions, 29 yards) in Week 1. His price for this week’s game looks a little on the low side, an observation supported by the Awesemo model, which rates him as the best value on Yahoo at running back for Week 2 DFS. He is a great pay-down target that could easily produce another solid game here, even in a tough matchup.
Awesemo DFS Projection: 64.30 and 0.46 touchdowns rushing
Flex: Mark Andrews (Flex Price: $20)
Andrews had a terrible Week 1, landing just three receptions on five targets in an overtime game where the Ravens scored 27 points. Week 2 could see Andrews push for a bigger role, though, as Baltimore is projected to be behind in this game late (they were ahead nearly the whole game against Las Vegas), and they may also be without or have a limited Marquise Brown (questionable). Despite the poor opener, Andrews has the fourth-highest fantasy projection at tight end this week in the Awesemo model and has a better value score than Kelce. Given how much they run, all of the Baltimore receivers are risky here, but Andrews rates as a solid option this week.
Awesemo DFS Projection: 6.94 targets
