The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Once again we’re back with a slate featuring at least two NHL DFS beasts in Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon. They often make slates tough to balance exposure but they also make many full lines under-owned. With a positive leverage and projected ownership under 7% on each site there are few spots to compare with Winnipeg’s top line.
We can’t put a ton of faith in to a two-game sample since Pierre-Luc Dubois returned but so far this trio has been absolutely rolling in their limited time. In that short time span, they’ve combined for 16 points even with struggles at 5-on-5. There are a few ways to look at such stats and bank on the regression of a line with three quality top-6 players. Or, you could just bank on their offensive talent when on the power play.
With such low ownership and a great powerplay matchup the upside is good as any for this line.

Over-Owned Stack: TOR3
Regardless of the matchup and construction, I would never advise being too heavy with a third line on a 10-game slate. This is true, even on a line that has some uncertainty and negative leverage across the industry.
At nearly 5% projected ownership on both sites, I can see why this line could get some run. Since there are expensive lines in Colorado and Edmonton, pairing them with TOR3 will make the uphill battle twice as hard. At a similar price, you can find other value lines such as CAR3 or MIN3 with slightly less top stack percentage and far better leverage.
Now that Auston Matthews is off the slate, everything else on Toronto will get attention. I’d make sure to be cognizant of who you are pairing them with on tonight’s NHL DFS slate.
