The 2021 NHL season is going strong, and it has been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
So it’s extremely evident that Edmonton’s top line will carry very heavy ownership considering the size of the slate and the matchup with the Senators. I’ll be changing this article up a bit and looking at a few under-owned and value stacks I really like to possibly pair with Edmonton or run together to swerve the ownership altogether.
Top Stacks: Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks | March 8
Top Value Stack: MTL3
Linemates: Tyler Toffoli – Jesperi Kotkaniemi – Josh Anderson
With a fantastic matchup against the league’s most penalized team, positive leverage and a total price tag at or under $16,000 on both sites, we can comfortably use this line in tournaments of all sizes.
The locals had been clamoring for this line to become a thing, and it finally came to fruition last game. They didn’t disappoint, scoring 2 goals and totaling 4 points. Toffoli and Anderson are similar shoot-first style players that can skate, which works very nicely with the more passive Kotkaniemi in the middle.
The Canucks have had a tough time stopping anyone when Thatcher Demko isn’t making incredible saves all game. The Montreal third line fits with all of the big stacks and has big upside. I’ll be ensuring to get over the field by pairing them with different primary stacks and power-play stacks.

Under-Owned Stack: STL2
Linemates: David Perron – Brayden Schenn – Mike Hoffman
There will be a lot of teams that fit this bill, but none more so than the second unit for the Blues, especially on DraftKings. On FanDuel this line is a bit more owned at a value price but still carries more leverage, albeit negative, than others in that ownership tier. As a more expensive line on DraftKings in relation to total salary, they come in at projected ownership of under 9%. That is not nearly enough, especially with a top-two stack percentage of 13%.
Getting Vladimir Tarasenko back shook up the Blues lines last game but didn’t seem to hinder much in the way of production, as this line tallied a goal and 3 assists. Getting a matchup with a bottom-three defensive team in the league is always a nice way to get in the flow. In 44 minutes of ice time together, mostly on the power play, these three have shown an understanding and put up great metrics across the board.
Awesemo’s Top 2 Stack Percentage: 14.1%
Awesemo’s Ownership Projection: 12.2%
Leverage: 1.9%
