The Maple Leafs are on the 2nd-half of a road back-to-back tonight, but their opponent, the Ducks, is one of the most giving in the NHL. Anaheim is allowing the the 2nd-most Corsi Against per 60, most Scoring Chances Against per 60, and 4th-most High-Danger Chances Against per 60 at even-strength on the year, and their also missing one of their top defensemen, Cam Fowler. The Ducks top-2 lines, which have both struggled preventing quality chances, should spend lots of time against this Tavares line, which, on the other hand, has posted almost 15 High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes. Top power-play time for Marner and Tavares doesn’t hurt either, as the Ducks have been short-handed the 3rd-most times in the NHL this season.
The Stars top-line will face a depleted Bruins defense that is without Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo, but the best part about this matchup is that the Stars can avoid BOS1 at even-strength if they (smartly) choose to. DAL1 is generating over 70 shot attempts per 60 minutes with over 36 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes, and 14.3 High-Danger Chances per 60 as well. Assuming they can matchup with the non-BOS1 lines at even-strength, they have the clear advantage there, and the Bruins penalty-kill is the 8th-worst in the NHL at just 76.3%.
This line hasn’t yet done a great job creating high-quality chances, but their matchup against the 2nd and 3rd Blackhawks’ is a perfect opportunity to start creating them tonight. The Hawks have stacked their top line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, so that leaves the high-event Kampf line and the Saad-Anisimov combo to primarily face off against LA2. Chicago as a whole is giving up the 2nd-most High-Danger Chances per 60 on the year, so add in a lackluster penalty-kill (74.5%) and power-play time for all 3 of these guys, and we again get them at a solid value on DraftKings for just $14,500.
