CGY1 (Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett)

While many DFSers look to the other side of this one with the likely mega-chalk Leafs, the Flames’ top line looks to be in one of the best spots on the night at even-strength. Auston Matthews will be out for a while, so the Leafs will use their “shutdown” trio of Marleau, Kadri, and Marner, a line that played incredibly high-event last year and gave up as much as they took at even-strength (29.6 Scoring Chances Against per 60, 13.6 High-Danger Chances Against per 60). Each of these guys will get power-play time as well, and there’s a good chance we get them underowned because of the popularity of the Leafs’ top skaters on the other side.

MIN PP1 (Niederreiter-Staal-Zucker-Granlund-Suter)

Some combination of the top Wild power-play makes for an excellent way to get differentiation on a short slate rather than the classic even-strength stack build. Minnesota’s power-play has been lackluster to start 2018-19, but the Canucks have been one of the most generous teams in the NHL at giving power-play opportunities, as they’ve been short-handed 47 times in 12 games. You can stick to the forward line of Niederreiter-Staal-Zucker if you don’t want all your eggs in one basket, but adding another forward or 2 to get exposure to both of the Minnesota lines will get you a more unique build without dipping down the 3rd and 4th lines.
