NHL News, Notes and Line correlations – 10/15

Nolan Kelly

DraftKings & FanDuel NHL DFS picks like Tyler Seguin for today's NHL DFS slate based on Awesemo's NHL projections, Tuesday 3/10/20.

From now on we’ll use these smaller slates as an opportunity to take a deeper dive how much lines and powerplay units are actually playing together. Obviously, all things being equal, you’d rather stack a line that’s on the ice 25% of the time together over one that’s on the ice 15% of the time together. Give me a follow on Twitter @Nolan__Kelly to stay up on any changes closer to lineup lock.

These are courtesy of Left Wing Lock, and default to the last three games played unless otherwise specified.

Dallas Stars

DAL1- 22% (But only 13% last game –Alex Radulov shuffled to DAL2, Blake Comeau played on DAL1)…however PP1 more than makes up for this. Consider adding Jason Spezza to Benn/Seguin.

Lineup notes: Comeau takes over from Radulov on the top line. Is not on PP1.

Detroit Red Wings

Jeff Blashill shuffles his lines as much as any coach in the NHL, and it shows. The Wings are always one of the worst teams to line-stack. I’d be more likely to stack duos who also see PP1 time together (Larkin, Nyquist).

DET1- 16%

PP- 55%/45%

Lineup notes: Martin Frk makes his season debut the third line with Frans Nielson and Justin Abdelkader.

Los Angeles Kings

Due to recent line switches, we’re just going with the last game, so take them with a grain of salt.

Note: Rook Jaret Anderson-Dolan got a lot of PP1 time last game and is just $2900 on DK.

Lineup notes: No major changes.

Minnesota Wild

Lineup notes: No major changes.

Montreal Canadiens

MTL1- 22% (30% last game)

Lineup notes: No major changes.

NSH 1 – 22.3%

NSH2 – 17%

PP2 –43%  – This is a surprising. Might just be an outlier – Ie. NSH1 has been drawing penalties at the of shifts etc – but it’s a fairly even split, which isn’t normal.

PP1 – 39%

Lineup notes: No major changes.

Ottawa Senators

I don’t think of Guy Boucher as an in-game tinkerer, but maybe I’m wrong on that. He’s certainly done a lot of in-game line-switching to this point in the season.

Consider using 2/3 stacks of players on the same PP unit together.

Lineup notes: No major changes.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Huge numbers from the Leafs top three lines.

TOR1-26% (hit 30% last game)

Lineup notes: No major changes.

I've been obsessed with fantasy sports since as long as I can remember. Back in 1993, while seated in the last row of Mr. MacMillan's math class, I'm fairly certain a few buddies of mine and I invented daily fantasy sports -- popping down our fivers and using nothing more than a newspaper box score, we'd make our NHL player picks for the night's action. Twenty years later I started out playing DFS on DraftStreet, when three-max tourneys with 490 people were a big deal, and I've been hooked ever since. More than anything, I'm interested in using my technical writing skills to articulate and clarify our content in order to help you become a better fantasy sports players player. Armed with Awesemo's grades and the projections from our experts, we're here to help you take the next step. You can contact me by emailing [email protected].
