After a monster slate on Monday, there is just a five-game fiasco to sort through for Tuesday. As one would expect, every single team is on the second half of a back-to-back in the same venue, so who knows what to expect? Of the five games being served up, there are plenty of NHL DFS picks on both FanDuel and DraftKings to scour through. To do so, I will be Awesemo’s industry-leading NHL DFS point projections, ownership projections, and Top Stacks Tool to make those decisions a little easier. Let’s find some winning picks for our fantasy hockey lineups on Tuesday, May 4.

NHL Power Plays: DraftKings + FanDuel DFS Picks | May 4
NHL DFS Picks: Center
Brock Nelson (NYI vs. BUF)
DraftKings — $4,100
FanDuel — $5,600
As usual, the center position is loaded with talent at the top with the likes of Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby, which means gamers will need to hunt for some value. Nelson is a rare case where a player is appropriately priced on FanDuel in comparison to DraftKings, with a $1,500 discrepancy that is helping his NHL DFS ownership projection much more on the blue site at just 11%. The Islanders draw the always-beneficial matchup against the Sabres, who rank near the bottom in all categories of five-on-five and on the penalty kill. This is all setting up nicely for Nelson, who has had a disappointing year to say the least.
That disappointment could lead to lesser ownership than expected, even on DraftKings where the price is far too low. With 18 minutes per game and a spot on the top power-play unit, he provides a great floor for cash formats and upside for GPPs.
Others: Connor McDavid, Jared McCann (FanDuel), Sam Reinhart, Jordan Staal

NHL DFS Picks: Wingers
Andrei Svechnikov (CAR vs. CHI)
DraftKings — $6,200
FanDuel — $5,900
The Hurricanes as a whole are going to be popular tonight drawing the defenseless Blackhawks, but going with the spend-up options like Svechnikov is a way to get different, especially on FanDuel where he has just a 17.7% NHL DFS ownership projection. Svechnikov has had a very inconsistent year, but he has found his groove as of late. With 6 points in his last four games, things are looking up as the season hits the pivotal part for all teams. This all may be attributed to his solidified position on the Hurricanes’ top line with Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen and his spot on the top power play that ranks amongst the league’s best
There is a lot to like from the Carolina side for NHL DFS, but in terms of theory, Svechnikov, would be the first place to look.
Others: Dominik Kubalik, Nils Hoglander, Oliver Wahlstrom
NHL DFS Picks: Defensemen
Matt Grzelcyk (BOS vs. NJ)
DraftKings — $5,500
FanDuel — $4,000
At nearly no projected ownership on DraftKings and under 5% on FanDuel, Grzelcyk fills out Boston stacks nicely and makes for a great one-off on FanDuel. Much of Grzelcyk’s production is dependent upon scoring, which is not always ideal, but thankfully the Devils have been dreadful defensively, especially on the penalty kill. Allowing the most goals per 60 and carrying the 30th-ranked expected goals against, if the Bruins and their power-play quarterback can get on the PP, they should be able to capitalize.
Up top, Dougie Hamilton and Kris Letang make for great plays but also carry a ton of projected ownership. On a slate with just five games, dropping down in price to save on ownership while getting different is always sensible.
Others: Travis Hamonic, Darnell Nurse
Top Stacks
Carolina 1: Svechnikov — Aho — Teravainen
These smaller slates require upside and leverage in order to face the fewest battles. This line for the Carolina Hurricanes marries those two features very well. On both sites they carry a leverage of at least 4.1%, which makes them a great pivot to the very expensive lines at the top. Well under $20,000 on either site, they allow for plenty of flexibility in building lineups.
Boston 1: Marchand — Bergeron — Pastrnak
There is not a line close to this one in terms of leverage on either site. Regardless of if they haven’t put up quite the numbers expected as a whole, they get a fantastic matchup and have a top-two stack percentage near 30% on each site.
