Top Stacks: NHL DFS Picks for DraftKings + FanDuel | 1/15/21

The 2021 NHL season is officially underway. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in hockey, with each goal averaging 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks to make for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stacks: NHL DFS Picks | Jan. 15

Top Stack: TB1

With this year’s quirky scheduling we’re going to see a lot of consecutive great matchups for teams. We get that scenario here with Tampa and their top line. They absolutely put the screws to the Blackhawks on Wednesday, with nobody needing to go over 17 minutes on-ice.

Steven Stamkos is the centerpiece of this group and lit up the scoreboard in the first matchup with 3 points (one goal, two assists) and over 35 fantasy points on both sites. Brayden Point centers this top line and the top power play for the lightning at all times. The 24-year-old is a scrappy puck mover who often hangs in the slot and near the crease to clean up and hit his wings. Unquestionably the least-owned of the bunch is winger Ondrej Palat, who complements any line with scorers with his pass-first mentality.

There is no reason to think the Lightning won’t repeat last game’s performance against Chicago. They’ll be my highest-owned line unquestionably.

Under-Owned Stack: COL1

Coming off a NHL DFS slate where this Colorado top line basically let everyone down, this looks like a great buy-low spot. As is customary in hockey, Coach Bednar has already decided to blow up the new COL1 and go back to the old version here against St. Louis.

Nathan MacKinnon is a stud, and I’m not concerned at all with one bad performance. He’ll be paired with Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog, as we’ve seen for years. These three together last year played just over 360 minutes together and created nearly 65% high-danger chances.

On a slate with popular stacks like WAS1, TB1 and TOR1, we can go to Colorado for some easy ownership relief and big upside.
