Your can make the case that the Villanova has cruised on the easiest path to the Sweet 16, with wins against Winthrop and North Texas. Now, it’ll run into the buzz saw that is Baylor.
Baylor’s guard-heavy offense is one of the most dangerous in the country, ranking third overall in offensive efficiency, per KenPom, and third in raw points per game (84.2). The Bears are also the most efficient three-point shooting team in the country, at 41.5% on the season, with five players that shoot it 40% or better. Baylor is also led by Davion Mitchell‘s 46.1% shooting from behind the arc.
Villanova has moved on because of their hot 3-point shooting, but it will be tough to continue this against Baylor. The Bears are athletic and defend the perimeter well. The Wildcats are also not able to exploit Baylor’s lack of size, which is seemingly their only weakness right now.
It was an 87-78 Baylor victory when these teams met last season, and it looks like we could see a similar result here. The Bears look more than capable of covering their 7.5-point spread.
