Lauri Markkanen Under 6.5 Rebounds (+100, Caesars)

No one can deny the fact that Lauri Markkanen has been quite consistent this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his first season with the team, the 24-year-old has averaged 5.6 rebounds per game. Considering how deep the Cavs’ frontcourt was for the majority of the season, it’s impressive to see Markkanen provide such stable production. Recently, however, his rebounding totals have seen a great deal of fluctuation. In fact, Markkanen has alternated stat lines of 9+ boards with five or fewer in each of his last nine games played.

Considering that Markkanen only corralled three rebounds in Monday’s contest, the recent trend would suggest a big game on the glass is in store tonight. The fact that rookie Evan Mobley will miss this evening’s clash against the Dallas Mavericks after twisting his ankle two nights ago further supports this theory. Yet, Markkanen’s sporadic rebounding production is not exactly ideal for betting NBA props to the over. Furthermore, tonight’s NBA player props total of 6.5 boards is nearly one full rebound above his per-game average for the full season.

It’s also not like Markkanen is the only big man left standing for the Cavs. Kevin Love is good to go tonight and Moses Brown figures to assume increased playing time at the center position. While OddsShopper shows that this prop is juiced to the over across the NBA betting market, the degree to which this is the case varies. In fact, the optimal odds of +100 are up to 11 cents cheaper than the listings at other sportsbooks. When Awesemo takes into account the added potential return that stems from the even-money price, this under prediction is determined to have a 20% ROI value.

Gary Trent Jr. Over 1.5 Steals (+130, BetMGM)

Upon making his return Monday from a three-game absence due to a hyperextended left big toe (WTF!), Toronto Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. struggled to just 12 points in 37 minutes of action. While his shooting touch may not have been there in his first game back, Trent made up for it on the defensive end. The 23-year-old came up with three steals on the night to help Toronto escape with an overtime victory. Trent has now recorded at least one steal in each of his last six games played. Furthermore, three of those contests have seen him finish with multiple steals. On the season overall, Trent is averaging 1.8 thefts per game.

While steals aren’t typically the most sought-after NBA player props market, Awesemo believes that there is tremendous value in betting Trent to have multiple thefts in tonight’s contest. According to OddsShopper, the price on Trent to go over 1.5 steals sits at +130 across all sportsbooks in the NBA betting market. Bettors are getting odds that carry an implied probability of 43.5% for Trent to achieve a steals output that is only 0.2 above his per-game average.

Further adding to this handicap is the fact that the Raptors face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although the Wolves are poised to play in the postseason for the first time in a long while, they do struggle to take care of the basketball. A team average of 14.3 turnovers per game ranks 21st in the NBA. Awesemo officially projects Trent to record 1.87 steals tonight. The 57% win probability disagrees greatly with what the odds are suggesting. Thus, the expected ROI value sits at a massive 31%.

Jordan Poole Under 25.5 Points (-120, PointsBet)

As a result of Stephen Curry being sidelined with an injury, Jordan Poole has been thrust into the spotlight as the Golden State Warriors’ primary offensive weapon. To say that the 22-year-old has delivered in his enlarged role would be an understatement. Poole has been a solid scorer for the Dubs all season long, but his talent has only been magnified recently. He has scored 20+ points in every game since March 1st. That is a stretch of 14 straight contests. His NBA player props totals have become inflated as a result. With 24+ points scored in each of the last seven games, Poole has shown an ability to continue meeting the heightened NBA props bars.

Tonight could breed a different result, however. First of all, Poole’s NBA betting points total has increased even more to now sit at 25.5. Second, the Warriors face the best team in the Association tonight. From a matchup standpoint, all players must be downgraded when facing the Phoenix Suns, and Poole is no exception to this. Entering Wednesday’s game, the Suns rank third in defensive efficiency allowing only 104.4 points per 100 possessions.

Here’s the thing though: OddsShopper actually suggests that the NBA player props line of 25.5 points is an UPGRADE on what Poole figures to be capable of. This determination stems from the fact that the total is exclusive to one sportsbook. All other shops in the market have Poole’s scoring prop set a full point lower at 24.5. Even at that number, the under is the side to consider. With an extra point tacked on, it’s no surprise that Awesemo gives this prop a hefty 20% expected ROI value. They project Poole for exactly 22.39 points this evening and give this under prediction a 65% win probability.
