Jalen Green Under 16.5 Points (-122, FanDuel)

Rookie Jalen Green demolished his season-long scoring average in each of his last two games played. While the Houston Rockets‘ young investment has only scored 14.8 points per contest, he hit the 20-point threshold in each of the last two games. The key to him doing so was hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Green connected on 10-18 shot attempts from deep over the two most recent games combined. That is a major uptick from his 31.3% shooting clip from three-point range on the season.

Awesemo’s projections expect a regression to the mean for Green’s three-point shooting and thereby his scoring tonight. A matchup against a stingy Miami Heat defense certainly figures to add to the difficulty. OddsShopper also shows that the NBA player props market is divided on where his scoring total should be. Lines of both 16.5 and 15.5 are currently available at multiple sportsbooks. As a result, bettors are able to get a full point in value but playing under 16.5. OddsShopper has assigned this prop bet a massive win probability of 70% to go along with a 40% expected ROI.

R.J. Barrett Under 16.5 Points (+100, SugarHouse)

The New York Knicks continue to deal with various COVID-related absences. Most recently, star power forward Julius Randle was ruled out for the foreseeable future. Roughly 20 points per game will need to be replaced in his absence, but OddsShopper does not believe that R.J. Barrett will be able to eclipse the NBA player props total of 16.5 tonight. On the season Barrett has only averaged 14.6 points per contest, nearly two fewer than this New Year’s Eve NBA betting line. After missing a series of games due to health and safety protocols himself, Barrett has not played more than 26 minutes in any game since his return.

This under prediction becomes even more intriguing when one considers that the Knicks face one of the better scoring defenses in the league tonight. The Oklahoma City Thunder may be in rebuilding mode, but they have held their own on the defensive end of the floor this season. Despite the sneaky tough matchup and Barrett’s reduced minutes, OddsShopper shows that most of the betting market is juiced to the over on this prop bet tonight. As a result, bettors can get favorable +100 odds on the opposite side for a nice expected ROI of 26%.

Ja Morant Over 6.5 Assists (+108, FanDuel)

While Ja Morant has been going off on the scoreboard recently, he only totaled six assists combined in the last two games. The depleted state of the Memphis Grizzlies lineup around him has led to the star point guard assuming a greater role as a scorer himself. On the season, Morant is still averaging 6.6 assists per game, a mark that sits just above tonight’s NBA player props line of 6.5. In a friendly defensive matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, OddsShopper believes that there is value in playing the over on Morant’s assists prop.

One of the main reasons why this over prediction is considered a positive ROI wager is the presence of plus-money odds. OddsShopper currently shows the optimal price at +108. This is up to 18 cents better than the odds offered at other sportsbooks. Awesemo’s projections have Morant pegged for exactly 7.18 assists in tonight’s game. While the win probability of the over is less than 60%, the potential for a plus-money return helps boost this prop bet’s ROI to a healthy 21%.
