Up and down throughout the season, Iowa State finished 10-12 in Quad 1 and Quad 2 games. Iowa State’s main downfall is its 258th-ranked offensive efficiency. The Cyclones face LSU’s sixth-ranked defense, likely struggling with the size and length. The Tigers rank 69th in rebounding, compared to 306th for Iowa State. LSU also generates the third-most turnovers, while Iowa State ranks outside the top 250 in offensive turnovers themselves. With multiple advantages here, LSU -4 or -4.5 makes sense.
Best NCAAB Picks Today: USC -1.5
A drastic clash in styles, USC takes on Miami as a 1.5-point favorite in a No. 7 – No. 10 matchup. USC finished the regular season with the 84th-best offense and 54th-best defense. On the other side, Miami ranks 27th on offense but 256th on defense. More importantly, USC has massive advantages in the frontcourt, ranking ninth in rebounding and 19th in effective height. Meanwhile, Miami ranks 337th in rebounding and 122nd in effective height. Miami typically plays smallball while shooting the 43rd-most 3-pointers in the country. The polar opposite, USC plays through its size with Isaiah Mobley and Drew Peterson. USC finished the year with the stronger resume, and taking them as the favorite is the sharp side of this bet.

One of the larger spreads on today’s slate, Purdue is a 16-point favorite over Yale in this first-round clash of the NCAA Tournament. Unlike some of the other mismatches, Purdue is actually the value in this spot. Yale enters the NCAA Tournament with one of the weaker resumes in recent memory, losing at every chance to face increased competition. Plus, Purdue is a stylistic nightmare for Yale, as they are 27th in rebounding and ninth in effective height. Conversely, Yale ranks 222nd in rebounding and 352nd in effective height. With much of the offense flowing through Zach Edey and Trevion Williams, Purdue is the perfect team to cause Yale trouble.
