The Lakers have not strung together wins since March, alternating win-loss throughout the entire month. They lost by 14 to the Jazz last time out, so the pattern would point to a win tonight. The Lakers are expected to get a big addition to the lineup that would help in doing just that, with Anthony Davis expecting to make his return. Awesemo is projecting Davis to play under 14 minutes, failing to reach double-digit points. Andre Drummond, Dennis Schroder and Markieff Morris are all listed as probably to play, while Marc Gasol is questionable with a finger injury. Schroder is the one Awesemo is projecting to lead the team in points tonight, at about 17 points. His past two games have been strong, averaging 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists.
The Mavericks have also struggled lately, losing four of the past six games. As with the rough stretch they had earlier this season, Dallas really struggles when they fail to perform on the defensive end of the floor. They allowed at least 117 points in three of their previous four losses. Dallas beat Detroit last time out, but they still allowed the Pistons to score 117 points. This requires their offensive game to be sharp, and it has looked like a one-man show too often for that to be the case. Luka Doncic has averaged 28.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during April. Awesemo projects Doncic to be the game’s leading scorer tonight.
Dallas needs a more consistent performance out of Kristaps Porzingis for them to right the ship. He has failed to shoot over 50% over the past three games, and he even has a performance where he shot 3-for-14 last Sunday. On the second leg of a back-to-back, he is a rest candidate. But as of now, Porzingis is projected to score 20 points.

For his defensive talents alone, his return is massive for the Lakers. That’s why I am willing to bet they cover the spread tonight.
