Bet Phillies -1.5 (-105) Tonight: Expert MLB Betting Picks, Odds & Predictions | Wednesday, July 28, 2021

Wednesday’s loaded MLB schedule leaves no shortage of action on the diamond throughout the day. There are a few profitable spots for MLB betting today, and I have outlined some of the MLB Vegas odds and free expert MLB picks and prop bets for today, July 28.

Expert MLB Picks, Predictions & Vegas Odds

San Diego Padres vs. Oakland Athletics Moneyline (+120, William Hill)

For some afternoon action, the Athletics look to be in a good spot with left-hander Sean Manaea on the mound. Manaea used his time wisely over the break and now has 20 strikeouts in only 12.1 innings since coming back.

Blake Snell just had a lights-out start against the Marlins last time out, and that was one of a few recently. Miami is terrible against left-handed pitching, meaning that was a much more advantageous spot for Snell than usual. He still has a 1.56 WHIP this season, which is among the worst in MLB.

Washington Nationals at Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (-105, BetMGM)

The Phillies let the Nationals have their lone win in recent memory last night, and the Nationals almost gave it away. Tonight’s matchup of starting pitchers greatly favors Philadelphia, with Zack Wheeler in great form. Wheeler has been dominant since joining the Phillies, and he is coming off a dominant one-run outing against the Braves.

On the other side, the Nationals will have left-hander Patrick Corbin on the bump. The Phillies getting matched up with a left-handed starter tends to produce profitable results. Corbin has been getting rocked in recent outings, allowing at least five runs in three of his last four. The eight-run total on this game certainly has nothing to do with Corbin; most of those runs will be coming from Philadelphia bats.

Miami Marlins at Baltimore Orioles – Over 9.5 Runs (-114, FanDuel)

If lucky enough to still catch a 9.5 over on FanDuel, make sure to scoop it up. Literally every other sportsbook in the Awesemo OddsShopper has the total listed at 10, so that is a good sign of the direction this game is heading. These two teams combined for 10 runs last night, and that is now two of the three meetings between them this season.

The key here is Orioles right-hander Jorge Lopez. He seems to have figured out how to keep the ball in the ballpark, but allowing baserunners will always be a thorn in his side. Miami is not necessarily a power-hitting team, so this works out perfectly for them to put runners aboard all night.

Jordan Holloway has shown quite a bit of promise early on in his MLB career. However, if he does not get those walks under control, it could be a different story. Holloway has walked at least in two of his last four outings, one of those was his last one. The Marlins will put more runs on the board, but the Orioles will certainly contribute a couple as well. Despite it sitting at just -114 odds, it’s a solid MLB pick to round out your card.
