The Diamondbacks are huge underdogs today in a strange spot facing Wade LeBlanc as the opener taking the mound for the Cardinals today. This seems like a spot of where the Cardinals’ bullpen is given more credit than Arizona’s. The Cardinals should simply not be favored by this much, and this is a spot to take advantage of a bad line. Both offenses have sputtered at times this year, but they have found a spark with Jose Rojas and Pavin Smith at the top of lineup.

Freddy Peralta Over 8.5 Strikeouts: +118 (FanDuel)

Freddy Peralta has been simply fantastic to start the year. The strikeouts have come in bunches, and the walks are way down from last year. Being able to control all his pitches, Peralta has kept hitters off balance all year. Nine strikeouts is a tall order in theory, but the Cubs strike out at a top-10 clip this year with both free-swinging Joc Pederson and Ian Happ in their lineup. Peralta had 18% swinging-strike rates in both of his starts against the Cubs this year, so taking the over on strikeouts at plus-money odds is a great play on tonight’s slate.

Michael King Under 4.5 Strikeouts: -136 (FanDuel)

Michael King has been filling in for the injured Corey Kluber for the Yankees and has done so quite poorly. He has only pitched past the fifth inning once since taking over the starting role. Sporting an awful xFIP in the 5’s and a low strikeout rate, this is a great spot to bet against King lasting long enough to accumulate the strikeouts needed. Also, Yankee Stadium has great hitting weather today, and the ball should be flying with little resistance. Even though this pick is paying the juice on this bet, it will simply show a profit too much to be ignored. Bet against King with confidence tonight.
