Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap

Unfortunately, we only managed to hit on one of our three NBA betting picks from Monday’s action. Chris Paul staying under 8.5 assists was the winner. Khem Birch fell a single rebound shy of going over 6.5 in what turned out to be a spot-on line. And as for Bojan Bogdanovic, let’s just say 9% shooting isn’t ideal when needing a few 3-pointers. It is back to the drawing board with Tuesday’s plays.

NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | April 27

Marcus Smart Under 7.5 Assists

With both Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum being ruled out, the NBA betting line for Smart’s total assists is higher than normal. In fact,  over/under 7.5 assists is exactly two dimes higher than Smart’s season per-game average. Can he actually outperform his typical level by 2.5 assists to send this prop over? It’s hard to look anywhere but under here.

One would have to go all the way back to April 9 to find the last time that Smart exceeded 7.5 assists in a game. Given that he also averages over 32 minutes per game on the season, this handicap is not one of opportunity but of Smart’s role in the offense given the Celtics’ depleted lineup in tonight’s game. While the Thunder are far from a star defensive team, there’s a real possibility that Boston could win this one going away. Such a scenario could actually hamper Smart’s chances of dishing out a ton of assists. This line is simply too high, even with Boston’s injury situation.

Fred VanVleet Over 3.5 Rebounds

Fred VanVleet NBA betting picks

Going back to the Raptors well, the Toronto guards stepped up in the rebounding department yesterday, which kept Birch from hitting his rebound prop. VanVleet and Kyle Lowry recorded five boards apiece.

The Awesemo NBA Betting Player Props Tool is in favor of betting Fred VanVleet over 3.5 rebounds tonight. The line is in fact a bit below his season per-game average of 4.2 boards. Although his impact was minimal in the first two games back from an injury/suspension absence, VanVleet has notched five rebounds in each of the last two games. Even as he only shot 3-for-10 last night, he made his presence felt in other ways. The Nets rank in the middle of the pack in rebounding. With Chris Boucher out for the foreseeable future, VanVleet and the rest of Toronto’s backcourt will have to continue to crash the glass.

Jaden McDaniels Over 8.5 Points

Tonight marks the second game of a back-to-back for McDaniels and the Timberwolves after they managed to upset the aforementioned Bogdanovic and his Jazz yesterday. McDaniels has been very inconsistent statistically this season. As a result, his minutes have also seen a great degree of fluctuation. But as bettors, recent trends and tonight’s opponent indicate an opportune spot to play him over 8.5 points.

On the season, McDaniels has averaged 23.5 minutes per game. However, he has seen 27 minutes or more in each of the last five. He has played 32, 33 and 34 minutes in the last three games. Despite the playing time, McDaniels’ scoring output has remained limited. In those three contests, he posted just 4, 6 and 6 points. Keep in mind that each of the last two came against one of the top-scoring defenses in the NBA in the Jazz. Tonight’s opponent, the Rockets, is anything but elite defensively, allowing 115.0 points per game (27th). The minutes trend plus a wretched defense is the ideal combination to see McDaniels exceed tonight’s NBA betting total of 8.5 points.
