Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap

We righted the ship in a big way yesterday, hitting on all three of our NBA betting picks. Kevon Looney just got over 7.5 rebounds and Elfrid Payton just stayed under 3.5 assists. Harrison Barnes had no trouble clearing 1.5 made 3-pointers and bagged a fruitful plus-money return in the process. Let’s look to carry Wednesday’s momentum into today’s NBA player props.

NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | April 22

Wendell Carter Over 12.5 Points

After coming over in the midst of the Magic’s trade deadline flurry, Carter has now carved out a solid role as the team’s primary center. Replacing all of the production that was vacated by Nikola Vucevic is easier said than done, but Carter has continued to play well in a sound role. It is not like Orlando has any better options right now anyways. Add in an injury report littered with names ahead of tonight’s matchup, and Carter should see between 25 and 32 minutes once again.

With playing time not being a concern here, the question becomes whether Carter can get buckets. Well, he has scored in double figures in each of the last five games and eight of 10 overall. Aside from an 11-point outing on Sunday, all other times have seen him cruise over tonight’s NBA betting line of 12.5 points. With Otto Porter already ruled out and Terrence Ross a hard questionable, it’s conceivable that the Magic could be without two of their more capable scoring threats tonight. This is a good spot to capitalize on the whole situation and take Carter’s over.

Daniel Theis Under 5.5 Rebounds

NBA betting picks Daniel Theis

Zach LaVine may be out for the Bulls, but Vucevic has the starting center position on lock. Theis has proven to be firmly entrenched behind him on the depth chart. What this scenario has done is led to inconsistent minutes for Theis on a per-game basis. Some night he’ll play near 30, others he’ll be in the low 20s. The latter has played out more recently, as Theis has played 23 minutes or less in three of Chicago’s past four games. With playing time tough to predict, it becomes a concern that he will even be on the court long enough to achieve the over on any of his NBA betting props.

The Awesemo NBA Betting Player Props Tool has its eye on playing under 5.5 rebounds for Theis in tonight’s game. In addition to the skepticism about his minutes, the numbers from the past string of games serve to further support this NBA prediction. Theis has fallen short of the number in each of the three recent games where he has played 23 minutes or less. However, minutes also don’t guarantee an over at this line. He still came up short six games ago despite seeing 27 minutes of action. Furthermore, in the only two games out of six that Theis has seen more action and gone over 5.5 boards, he barely cleared the threshold, with six total rebounds on both occasions. Look to the under again tonight.

Mikal Bridges Over 0.5 Blocks

One of the better two-way players in the NBA today, Bridges has put together consecutive stat-sheet-stuffing performances. Last night against the 76ers, he piled up 18 points, four rebounds and an assist to go with two steals and two blocks on the defensive end. While tonight’s matchup against the Celtics is the second game of a back-to-back, Bridges and the Suns are rolling of late. A win tonight would give them three in a row on the road against three Eastern Conference contenders. Bridges should make an impact once again.

Looking at the blocks category specifically, Bridges has recorded at least one swat in three of the last four and seven of the Suns’ last 10 games. He is averaging 0.9 blocks per game on the season, far closer to the one required to go over on tonight’s NBA betting prop than the prop line itself. There’s also the possibility that Jae Crowder may be unavailable after he suffered an ankle sprain in yesterday’s contest. This could require Cameron Johnson to spend time at the four instead of subbing for Bridges. With playing time not expected to be a concern, Bridges should get the single block needed to cash the over.
