NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | April 8

Marcus Morris Under 2.5 Made 3-Pointers

NBA betting NBA player props Marcus Morris tonight predictions bets

For the second straight day, the play is the under on a made 3-pointers prop. The NBA odds have Morris’ 3-pointers line at 2.5 made in tonight’s game against the Suns. That’s a number he has fallen short of in two of the last three games. While he is shooting from long range at an impressive 46.2% clip on the season, it is tough to believe he will find great shooting success tonight.

One concern with Morris is playing time. With the Clippers back at near full strength, it’s not exactly a lock to say that Morris will see much more than his season average of 25.4 minutes in any given contest. That is if he gets to that number at all, something he did not do on Tuesday when he played just 24 minutes. He managed to fire off six 3-point attempts in those two-dozen minutes but hit only one of the six.

Keep in mind too that Morris’ poor performance on Tuesday came against a Trail Blazers defense that ranks 19th defending the 3-point shot this season. It simply isn’t logical to say that Morris will be worlds better against a Suns unit that has only allowed opponents to hit 34.4% of their 3’s this season, tied for the second-best mark in the NBA. Be careful about the sportsbook for this bet given some major discrepancies in the odds across the market. While laying over $2 is far from ideal, the under here for -180 is too enticing to pass up.

Theo Maledon Over 4.5 Assists

It is a bit surprising to see that the Awesemo NBA Player Props Tool felt so strongly about betting the over on 4.5 total assists for Maledon tonight. After digging deeper and referencing what the NBA betting odds are, it makes total sense. Maledon shined brightly for the Thunder last night in a loss to the Hornets. Even when granted big minutes this season, he has been inconsistent with his production. That was not the case yesterday, as Maledon scored 25 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and a pair of blocks.

NBA betting NBA prediction Theo Maledon

Last night was easily Maledon’s best game in some time. In fact, it marked just the third time in the last ten that he would have exceeded tonight’s NBA betting line of 4.5 assists. Outside of playing time and the potential he has flashed, the firm reasons for backing another strong performance tonight are few and far between. The Thunder are also taking on another below-average team in the Cavaliers, which should help a bit.

The real reason to buy in on this prop lies in the betting value. The odds on the over are now +120 thanks to heavy juice in the other direction. While Maledon exceeding the total is far from a guarantee, in this scenario that would happen enough times to take a +120 price. It makes total sense why the tool puts the expected ROI on this wager all the way up at 87%.

Robert Covington Over 9.5 Points

It has sort of been tough sledding for Covington this year. While he has been able to contribute decent averages across a number of statistical categories, scoring hasn’t been one of them. Covington enters tonight’s NBA betting matchup against the Jazz averaging just 9.2 points per game on the season. That’s a tick below the NBA player props betting line of 9.5 total points for tonight. Yet the over still seems like the better play.

Jae Crowder was faded in this very article yesterday as he went up against the same stout Jazz defense that Covington and the Blazers will face tonight. While points are harder to come by against the Jazz than almost all other NBA teams, perhaps Portland will have a slightly easier time given Utah is on the second leg of a back-to-back. Playing time has not been an issue for Covington all season. Looking at the last 10games, so long as Covington has seen his typical 30-plus minutes of action, he has scored in double figures in seven of nine games.

Of the Blazers’ last eight games, the only one in which Covington has fallen short of tonight’s NBA betting line of 9.5 points came when he played just 24 minutes. Unless a similar scenario arises tonight, Covington should be able to go over. He has been shooting well of late, and riding that hot hand is a reasonable play.
