Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves Best Bets Friday 4/29/22

The lone game in the NBA tonight features a close-out scenario for the Grizzlies and an opportunity to celebrate on the Timberwolves’ home floor. Game 6 comes fresh off an exhilarating performance by Ja Morant including the final 13 points and the game-winner to put Memphis up 3-2. Morant was certainly the headliner, but big performances from both Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks kept the Grizzlies in the game, especially earlier in the night. Steven Adams will miss tonight’s game with COVID and Memphis also looks to be down Zaire Williams due to knee soreness.

Minnesota is far from out and returns home where they split Game 3 and Game 4. Karl-Anthony Towns looked to return to form in Game 5, despite the outcome, handing the Grizzlies a double-double with 28 points. D’Angelo Russell flirted with one but came up just short. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies frustrated Anthony Edwards enough to limit his production and force some bad shots. The good news for Minnesota is no key injuries ahead of tonight’s contest.

Timberwolves Moneyline: +100 (FanDuel)

If Minnesota keeps Towns out of foul trouble, they win this game tonight. It is that simple. Morant was huge last time in Memphis, but the switch of venues is enough to deflate that Grizzlies’ momentum. Russell and Edwards will start to see more of a balance with their backs to the wall. Russell has faded as the third major piece of the Timberwolves and Edwards has overcompensated to a negative extent as a result. Expect a more aggressive Russell that takes some pressure off Edwards correlating with him taking better shots. The Wolves have shown in this series they have the ability to significantly limit Morant, it is just not an every-game type of thing. That should also regress a little and Morant should struggle.

Desmond Bane Over 4.5 Rebounds: -104 (FanDuel)

The Grizzlies will see Bane a little more active on the boards than the books have projected and OddsShopper fully supports it with the data. Awesemo’s free projection has Bane finishing nearly two full rebounds ahead of this number at 6.3 boards. OddsShopper has a 74% chance of this prop going over, along with a gigantic 47% xROI on the play. Bane has only gone over 4.5 boards one time in five games, but he hit four boards two other times in this series. Bane’s minutes have been consistently higher in the back end of this series as he played nearly 45 minutes in Game 5.

Patrick Beverley Over 3.5 Rebounds: -170 (DraftKings)

This is where using OddsShopper is vital in determining solid plays that have larger levels of juice, like a -170 bet. This is a great play backed by Awesemo’s free projection of 5.9 rebounds for Patrick Beverley and OddsShopper with a strong 33% xROI. Beverley looks likely to smash this rebound prop against Memphis with little resistance from the Grizzlies. OddsShopper has a robust 84% chance of this prop going over, making Beverley a fantastic solo play or something to anchor your Same Game Parlay.

Ja Morant Under 9.5 Assists: -122 (FanDuel)

It has not been the most consistent series for the Grizzlies star and NBA’s Most Improved Player, and tonight should provide similar volatility. Awesemo projects Morant to slide under the above total, finishing with 8.3 dimes in the game. OddsShopper will back that with a 68% chance of hitting along with a 24% xROI on the play. Morant has been held under the 9.5 assist total in two of the five games so far, including nine in the last game in Memphis.
