NBA Odds: Prop Bets for Aug. 8
Damian Lillard – Points (Under 29.5)
Damian Lillard has been on fire. This was especially true last game, when he threw in 11 shots from long range. Today, both Patrick Beverley and Kawhi Leonard are out for the Clippers, hurting their defense overall. This news, along with the Lillard hype, has raised his projected point total up to 29.5. While he probably should hit this, I am predicting the defense keys on him a bit too much and he instead acts as a facilitator more often than not. Also, this game could end up not being as close as the spread says, since the Blazers are red hot and the Clippers have many players out. If the Blazers get up big, it will be tough for Lillard to hit this over.
Devin Booker – Points (Over 26.5)
The Suns vs Heat game should be a competitive one, with both teams having something to play for. Miami will be without their best defender, with Jimmy Butler sidelined. This directly helps Devin Booker. The Suns guard has also been impassioned with his play, dedicating his performances to Kobe. This has led him to scoring over this point total in three of his last four games, with last game’s blowout being the exception. He should lead the game in scoring today, hitting the over on his NBA odds.
Kelly Olynyk – Points (Over 14.5)
Kelly Olynyk has benefited from the absence of some of his teammates, giving him more playing time. The NBA odds have his total set at 14.5 points in this game. He has hit over this total in three of his four bubble games. With plenty of opportunities to score in this game, we should see the big man hit the over. The Suns will likely try to put Cameron Johnson on him to begin the game. While this could push Olynyk off the three-point line, Johnson would be giving up a lot of size to him inside.
