NBA Odds: Favorite NBA Bets + NBA Picks of the Day | August 5

After the chaos we had yesterday, it’s clear that we now need to factor in the variable that star players may be rested or play limited action. Hopefully the NBA odds will also begin to factor this in a little bit, but the odds today look to be as taking these games at face value.

We have six games on the schedule yet again, giving us NBA betting action all day long. The best way to check out these NBA odds will be by using our OddsShopper tool since you can quickly compare odds at all of the major books and see if there are discrepancies to exploit.

After reviewing these NBA odds, these are my favorite bets for Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Favorite NBA Odds and NBA Bets for Aug. 5

Philadelphia 76ers (-10.5) vs. Washington Wizards

This spread is scary, but the 76ers at least have something to play for. Sitting at No. 7 in the Eastern Conference, the 76ers are just four games back from No. 3, so they could move a lot in the standings. The Wizards are about as officially out as they could be. Plus, they are shorthanded and bad. While 10.5 points is a lot to lay on this game, Washington has lost by 11 or more points in two of their three bubble games. The one exception was an eight-point loss to the also shorthanded Nets.

Philadelphia had some hiccups last time out and they should be able to use this game to find their rhythm again. They defeated Washington by 17 the last time they met, and we could see a similar result today.

Toronto Raptors (-6.5) vs. Orlando Magic

Despite being wildly underrated this season, the Raptors have had all of the answers, especially down in the bubble. They have won both of their games, with both matchups being against playoff teams. The Magic, on the other hand, beat the Nets and Kings but got embarrassed by the Pacers yesterday. On the second leg of a back-to-back, Orlando could be a bit tired, but I don’t think they will rest any of their stars today.

These teams have met three times already this season with the Raptors winning every game. The most narrow margin was a 7-point win, which would obviously cover today. They have the post players to slow down Orlando’s stars and the backcourt talent to win the game.

Currently, PointsBet has the best odds on this bet, at +100.

Brooklyn Nets (+9) vs. Boston Celtics

The statuses of many Nets players have not come out yet, so we may see this line move when they (presumably) get ruled active. We do, however, know that Kemba Walker will not play for the Celtics. This is a big hit, especially after how well he played yesterday. The Nets also played well yesterday, leading the Bucks at halftime, then ultimately finishing the win over their backups.

The Nets have played the Celtics tough this season. Brooklyn has actually won the past two meetings, with one being in Boston. The first meeting of the season was a loss for the Nets, but they still played well, trailing by just 5 points to start the fourth quarter. Not only should the Nets cover the spread, they very well could pull off yet another upset. If you’re feeling bullish, OddsShopper has the best moneyline for Brooklyn being +320 over at PointsBet.

Currently, FanDuel has the best odds on this bet, at -112.
