NBA Odds Boosts

Joel Embiid Scores 30+ Points AND 76ers Win

Embiid made a statement Saturday, even if Philadelphia lost to Indiana. He scored 16 of his team-high 41 points in the fourth quarter, and was 14-of-18 from inside the arc. Going back to before the NBA had to hit the pause button on the season, Embiid has scored at least 30 points in four of his last six games.

The 76ers have a tough matchup with San Antonio to deal with, especially since this will be the Spurs’ third game of the restart. San Antonio beat Sacramento and Memphis to entrench itself as the ninth seed at the moment, but neither of those teams have a talent like Embiid. The Philadelphia center is a matchup nightmare for the Spurs, who are without LaMarcus Aldridge for the rest of the season

FanDuel upped the odds on this bet to +330 from +270, which is a bet against Embiid being in the game long enough to score 30 points. The 76ers are seven-point favorites over the Spurs at FanDuel, so it makes sense to believe that Embiid might get some rest if the game gets out of hand. But it’ll be a tall task for Jakob Poeltl to slow down Embiid when he’s in the game.

NHL Odds Boosts

Evgeni Malkin Scores Goal AND Penguins Win

Malkin had eight shots on goal in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 overtime loss in the first game of this best-of-five series. There is a lot of pressure on the Penguins after a shocking loss to 12th-seeded Montreal on Saturday, so expect their stars to raise their level of play as well.

Malkin scored four goals and had seven assists in five games before the hiatus, and overall this season, he scored on 14.6% of his shots. His eight shots Saturday were a season-high, and he scored in roughly half of the games in which he’s taken four or more shots during the regular season.

Obviously, Carey Price played really well in Game 1, but Malkin will be even sharper in Game 2 with Pittsburgh battling for its playoff life. The Penguins should win, and if Malkin can find the back of the net again, it’ll be a nice payoff at DraftKings. The sportsbook boosted the NHL odds from +330 to +365 for this wager, and it’s a good risk given the circumstances for this game.

MLB Odds

Gerrit Cole Strikes Out 10+ AND Yankees Win

The Philadelphia Phillies return to the diamond for the first time in a week, and they are welcomed by Gerrit Cole. Last year’s strikeout king only has 12 through two starts this year, but he’s facing a lineup that hasn’t faced live pitching in a little bit. If there was a time for Cole to force guys to swing and miss, tonight would be that date.

The Yankees have won six straight after finishing off a three-game sweep of Boston on Sunday night, and everything is clicking for New York. The offense has scored at least five runs in five straight games, and the pitching has allowed two runs or fewer five times in eight games this season. Today is Jake Arrieta‘s first start of the season while Cole is making his third and has found a great rhythm to his work.

DraftKings moved the odds on this one from +400 to +440, which isn’t a large boost but good enough for this list. The high payoff makes this wager worthwhile given its inherent risks of Cole not missing bats and the Yankees falling short with the bats.
