NBA Prop of the Day: Zach LaVine 3-Pointers | March 3

Just two days remain before the All Star break and teams getting a much needed rest. Tonight there is a 10-game slate with the majority teams on the schedule. There are a few marquee matchups, highlighted by a 76ers – Jazz meeting with both teams having their sights on top end seeds come playoff time. In the betting markets we have a ton of options on both sides and player props that are available tonight.

NBA Player Prop Bet: Zach LaVine Over 3.5 3-Pointers Made (-114) — DraftKings

My favorite player prop comes from the Bulls-Pelicans game down in New Orleans. The Pelicans are 5-point favorites in a game with a lofty total of 238.5 points, so this figures to be an up-and-down affair. Zach LaVine has been fantastic all season, and I expect that to continue tonight against a poor Pelicans defense. Rather than just bet his over for points. I am looking to his 3-pointers prop of 3.5. Despite that been a pretty sizable line, I still like the over when we consider how bad New Orleans has been all year defending the three.

LaVine is averaging 28.5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He is shooting an impressive 43% from behind the arc and is taking just north of 8 3’s a game, so the volume is there. Furthermore, the 3-point volume is consistent, with just three games this season where LaVine didn’t have at least 6 attempts from behind the arc. We can reliably count on the attempts we need to push over this prop, and then it comes down to how many LaVine can hit.

This season the Pelicans have been terrible on defense, which is why the overs in their games are cashing at an insane clip. They allow teams to shoot 39.4% from behind the arc, which is the third worst in the league, and they allow 47.5 points per game from 3, which is dead last. It is an easy sell to see why the Bulls, and specifically LaVine, could be in line for a big night from the outside given that New Orleans isn’t equipped to slow that down. With the Bulls being underdogs, they easily could be playing from behind, and that could further push up the volume and give us even more room to cash this prop.

The over on 3.5 3-pointers is slightly favored, but we still have a -114 out there, which is more than favorable considering the situation. I expect this line to climb throughout the day, and I feel comfortable taking the over. With LaVine shooting at such a good clip and the volume seemingly there every night, this is a great spot to attack and my favorite prop on the slate.
