The 2020 NFL season is coming in hot, which means your betting card for the season needs a double-check. We’re going to be going over a copious amount of NFL futures bets, NFL odds, NFL betting picks and NFL predictions for the 2020 campaign. Sportsbooks have released win totals for every team, and we’re going to examine strengths, weaknesses, schedules and make predictions on the over/under. Right now, we’re looking at the Washington Football Team.
Washington has not had a lower win total since these totals have been kept track of. That goes all the way back to 1989. The lowest we have ever seen prior to this season was actually last season, when Washington was listed at 6 wins. Times are tough these days off the field for the franchise but it isn’t much better on either. This is an offense that has question marks everywhere. Ron Rivera is hopeful of turning this franchise around in the near future, but it may take some time.
The over has juice if you think this squad can turn it around quickly. The under is awfully enticing with a schedule that is simply abysmal. The squad could be an NFL betting picks underdog in nearly every single game in 2020.Â
Washington Football Team Strengths
A young star is ready to shine yet again as Terry McLaurin has all the skills to become the next big thing in the NFL. Only as a rookie a year ago, Dwayne Haskins was looking for him just like their college days. Haskins was also a rookie, but the hope is that surrounding him with playmakers will allow him to succeed. Antonio Gibson at running back could be a future stud. Luckily, the defense for Washington should be fantastic up front. Montez Sweat, Da’Ron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Ryan Kerrigan and Chase Young are all fantastic pass rushers. They all have a great blend of size, speed and athleticism that some winning teams do not possess. If they continue to improve, that should allow life to be even easier on a struggling offense.
Washington Football Team Weaknesses
Have you seen some mock drafts lately? It only took one season for some folks to already want a new signal-caller in town. Some are already asking Haskins to take a seat in favor of Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. Patience is tough nowadays for fans that expect to win. Washington is going to have to develop their young stars quickly or else it could get ugly in a hurry. The secondary has some issues in coverage and if the pass rush isn’t getting to the quarterback, they are prone to allowing chunk plays. On offense, the backfield is an absolute mess. Adrian Peterson is now gone but it is still wild with how many guys that could get touches. Bryce Love and Peyton Barber should get some touches, but somebody needs to supplant them if Washington wants to be more explosive. Antonio Gibson is a strong candidate for the job, but it will be tough for anybody to stand out and receive a significant amount of snaps. It will be a full blown committee, but the depth at receiver isn’t strong either so this squad will have its work cut out for them.
Washington Football team Schedule
The toss-up games look to be against Carolina, New York (NFC, twice) and Cincinnati. Wins will be tough to come by, but there isn’t a better head coach arguably out there other than Ron Rivera to get them back to relevancy. If Haskins makes a leap towards above average play, Washington will have a shot to play spoiler.Â
NFL Prediction
I don’t see much to be overly optimistic about and fear they will struggle to get out of the gates. They could be starting 0-7 heading into their bye week. With plus money on the under in the NFL futures markets, it almost seems too good to be true. They are a threat to have the most losses in the NFL and a top three selection is certainly likely. It is close to even money if you take the under, which is awfully tempting. Washington won zero divisional games a season ago. It may be tough to get any yet again. The team may look better on paper, but the results on the field aren’t going to show it. Last season, Washington won 3 games with a total set at 6 wins. This season won’t be much different. Take the plus money on the under for these NFL odds and watch a squad search for answers all year.
