NBA Odds Boosts

Jaylen Brown Scores 20+ Points AND Celtics Win (+260 FanDuel)

The Toronto Raptors have struggled all season with the Boston Celtics, and now they are in a must-win situation. I expect Boston to control Game 6 like it did Games 1 and 5, and close out the series with Toronto, largely because of Brown. What we saw from Brown in Game 5 was a resurgence of what made him such a strong combination with Jayson Tatum in the bubble during the regular season and early games in the postseason. He had seven 20-point performances in Boston’s first 10 games after the restart, but then he struggled and shot just 38% from the field and 25.6% from behind the arc in the next five games.

What we saw in Game 5 was an aggressive Brown who didn’t rely on his perimeter shooting to jumpstart his offense. I expect we’ll see a lot more of that player in Game 6, especially considering how much attention the Raptors have been paying to the 3-point line in recent games after Marcus Sm‌art lit them up in Game 2. If Brown is aggressive and attacking, he can either get Toronto into foul trouble or find an early rhythm to load up on points. Either way, I’m bullish on Brown having another big game to help Boston advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

For those unsure about the Celtics winning tonight but believe that Brown will have another big performance, PointsBet is offering +250 odds on Brown to score at least 25 points, regardless of the results.

Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Jokic Made 4.5+ 3-Pointers (+175 DraftKings)

Jokic has been consistent in these last two games from behind the arc for the Denver Nuggets after making seven 3-pointers combined in Games 2 and 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers. In the playoffs in general, Jokic is making about three 3-pointers a game and shooting 47.5% from long distance. He’s made at least two 3-pointers in eight of Denver’s 10 postseason games, and he’s made at least three in six contests. He’ll certainly carry the load for this wager, and if the Clippers aren’t careful, he could win the bet by himself tonight.

What really intrigued me about this bet, however, is the addition of Leonard to this prop. Leonard is not a prolific shooter by any stretch with a 26.7 3-point shooting percentage in the playoffs. However, he’s made at least one 3-pointer in eight of Los Angeles’ nine games in the playoffs, and he might get more open looks from the perimeter in order to prevent him from wreaking havoc inside. Combine Jokic and Leonard and they should be able to make five 3-pointers in a crucial Game 4 between Denver and Los Angeles.

NHL Odds Boosts

Over 1.5 Goals Scored in 1st Period Between Islanders and Lightning (+110 DraftKings)

The Tampa Bay Lightning have gotten out to strong starts lately with at least one goal in the first period of five straight games. They’ve scored multiple first period goals in two of those victories, and there have been multiple goals in the opening 20 minutes of four of those five games. After being dominated in the first game, I expect the New York Islanders to come out with a lot of energy to start this game, and that might just include popping in an early goal. The Islanders might not be known for scoring early, but they have scored in the first period of the last three games.

There aren’t very many NHL odds boosts out there normally, but this one has been the most plausible of the NHL picks in recent days. Tampa Bay’s speed was too much for the Islanders in Game 1, and New York cannot handle a high-scoring contest. The Lightning’s strong starts in these playoffs have been important to their success, and I expect they’ll have similar success in Game 2.
