Best NBA Bets Today: Game Tips & Betting Predictions

Nets vs. 76ers Best Bet

The Brooklyn Nets conclude their three-game road trip with a stop in Philadelphia for a divisional battle against the 76ers on Thursday night. The Nets handed the Hornets a 132-121 loss in Charlotte on Tuesday night. The 76ers took care of business at home over the Bulls on Monday. This will be the fourth matchup between these two teams this season. Tonight’s matchup presents some added tension after the blockbuster trade between these at the deadline. The Nets lead the season series 2-1 over Philadelphia.

The Nets were able to get back on track with a win on the road Tuesday. Kyrie Irving went off, scoring a ridiculous 50 points on only 19 shots attempts. Irving’s 19 shots are tied for second-fewest in NBA history among 50-point performances. Kevin Durant had a quiet night with 14 points on 6-for-13 from the field. Both Irving and Durant will be back on the court together in tonight’s contest looking to pick up a game on Philadelphia and prove to Harden they do not need his support. LaMarcus Aldridge remains out, as he is back in Brooklyn getting treatment on his hip. Cam Thomas is not on the injury report after returning on Tuesday from a minor back contusion that forced him out of their game against the Celtics. Ben Simmons remains without a timetable to make his debut but will join the team on the bench for tonight. The Brooklyn Nets are averaging 111.1 points on 46.7% shooting and allowing 112.0 points to opponents. Their defense continues to struggle, ranking 24th in defense rating on the year. With Aldridge sidelined, the Nets will rely on Andre Drummond and Nicolas Claxton to contain Embiid.

The 76ers continue to roll over opponents winning eight out of their last 10 games. Philadelphia holds the top spot in the Atlantic division and they have covered the spread in five out of their last seven games. Embiid continues to dominate opponents on a nightly basis, scoring at least 30 points in five out of his last eight games overall. Embiid is averaging 29.7 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Harden has been stellar since joining the squad late last month. The 76ers are 5-0 with Harden and he averaged 24.6 points and 12.4 assists in five starts. Another player that has been shining since Philadelphia acquired Harden is Tyrese Maxey. Maxey is averaging 24.8 points in those five games with Harden in the lineup. The Philadelphia 76ers are averaging 108.5 points on 46.4% shooting and allowing 106.1 points to opponents. The 76ers rank 10th in offensive rating and ninth in defensive rating on the season, presenting a well-balanced effort all around.

This is a grudge match between these two teams, given the drama the Nets had with Harden during his time in Brooklyn. In addition, Ben Simmons will be on the sidelines of the Nets bench for tonight’s contest. The Nets have averaged 233 combined points in their last five games overall. Both teams are 6-2 over/under in their last eight games overall. Brooklyn averages 6.6 more points per game on the road this season, given Irving is able to compete in these games. The 76ers have put up 121 points or more in every game with Harden in the lineup. The Nets have allowed an average of 121 points per game over their last eight outings while putting up at least 110 points in the last six games Irving has played. Expect the Nets to stay in this game behind the efforts of Durant and Irving. Take the over in what is expected to be a high-scoring affair on Thursday.
