NFL Prop Bets and Betting Picks for Wild Card Saturday Bucs vs Washington Football Team

One of the best stories of this NFL season revolved around Alex Smith, who overcame 17 surgeries and nearly two years of rehab to reclaim the starting job for the Washington Football Team. I was excited to take some overs on some WFT receivers in their first-round playoff matchup tonight should Smith and his calf injury be good to go. Their opponents, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are elite at stopping the run but very gettable through the air, allowing the 23rd-most passing yards per game at 269.4.

Well, that idea has been flipped on its head with news of Smith being inactive, paving the way for third-stringer Taylor Heinicke to make his second-career NFL start. While I still expect the passing game to be utilized by necessity in a game the WFT is now lofty 10.5-point dogs, it’s now any easy fade for me of this entire offense as a whole. This number on star receiver Terry McLaurin has dropped from around 70 this morning to 64.5, but it’s still a get-it-in-good opportunity on the under. After all, Heinicke has 77 career passing attempts in just three NFL appearances, so a unit on the under here makes too much sense.

NFL Prop Bet No. 2: Logan Thomas UNDER 44.5 Receiving Yards

You could copy/paste a lot of the analysis for McLaurin above to apply to WFT tight end Logan Thomas. Thomas has been revelatory in the second half of the season, but without reliable quarterback play, I think that ends tonight. Make sure you get your exposure to this bet at SugarHouse and DraftKings, as OddsShopper reveals a nine dollar savings plus a few bonus yards at those books. I’m here for nearly any unders on WFT receivers, as any make for viable NFL prop bets.
