Best NBA Bets Today: Player Props & Expert Betting

Pistons Spread (+8.5) Over the Mavericks & Under 218.5 Points

While this game is not a must-win for Dallas, it is a need to win in terms of playoff seeding. The Mavericks (49-30) are fourth in the Western Conference, although they are just two games in front of the fifth-place Jazz and one game in back of the third-place Warriors. The Mavs split their season series with both the Warriors and Jazz. Dallas should win this game and is given a 76% chance by Awesemo’s projections to do just that but expect the Pistons to cover.

Dallas has been one of the most successful teams over the last month. The Mavericks are 13-5 since March 1, however, they are 6-4 over their last 10 and have been outscored by 0.3 points a game over this 18 game stretch. The Mavs have struggled on the defensive end on the road lately, where they have won six of their last 10 games. They have allowed 112 points a game away from home during this stretch, as their opponents have shot nearly 48% from the field along with 38% from the 3-point line while making 13 3-pointers a game. Turnovers also continue to be an issue for Dallas on the road, where they average 13.5 a game, which is three more than they commit at home. Luka Doncic has been absolutely outstanding since the All-Star break, totaling 30.2 points on 47.4% shooting from the field and 38.7% from beyond the arc along with 9.0 rebounds and 7.9 assists. Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie have also played very well over the last 16 games. Maxi Kleber will miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury.

Detroit continues to be short-handed, but they are winning. The Pistons have won three straight, splitting their last 10 overall. Plus, they have been pretty good at home in the previous nine contests, particularly on the defensive end, where they are outscoring their opponents by two points a game (108-106). The Pistons have held their opponents to 45% shooting from the field a home this season, including 43.4% over the last nine home games. Moreover, Detroit has done an excellent job defending the 3-point line and forcing turnovers this season at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons backcourt has also done a fantastic job defensively, holding their counterparts to the sixth-fewest points over the last 10 games while limiting them to under 40% shooting from the field and less than 32% from beyond the arc. Cade Cunningham has been pretty good since the All-Star break, although several other players have stepped up with all of the Pistons’ injuries. Cory Joseph, Marvin Bagley and Kelly Olynyk are among the players that will not play tonight. Furthermore, Detroit is 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning record.

The point total has dropped two points since the opening line was set. The under has hit in eight of the Pistons’ last 11 home contests. OddsShopper gives the under a 55% chance of hitting and an expected ROI of 8%.

Wizards Spread (+10.5) Over Hawks: Under 234.5 Points

Atlanta, Brooklyn and Charlotte are trying to finish in the ninth and 10th positions in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks are ninth in the conference despite having identical records with the Nets at 41-38, as they lost the season series to Brooklyn 2-1. Both teams sit one game in front of the 10th place Hornets and two games in back of the Cavaliers. Atlanta plays very well at home and as a result, Awesemo’s projections give them a 73% chance of winning the game. However, Washington is given a 55% chance of covering.

Atlanta has won seven of their last 10 games but is coming off a 118-108 setback to Toronto last night, as the Hawks were dominated in the paint and on the boards. The Hawks held the Raptors to 43.5% shooting from the field as well as just nine 3-pointers, but they were outrebounded 60-43 (20-10 on the offensive end) and gave up 62 points in the paint. This has been a trend lately for the Hawks, who have thrived on the offensive end but rank in the bottom third of the league in defensive rebounding and points in the paint allowed since the All-Star break. Trae Young has led the way for them offensively, as he has averaged nearly 30 points and 11 assists over his last 20 appearances. Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic are questionable, as each is dealing with a knee injury. Moreover, the Hawks are just 7-8 and average fewer than 112 points a game in the second leg of back-to-backs this year.

Washington is looking to continue to close out the season strong as they have won five of their last seven games, including a couple of impressive wins over the Timberwolves and Mavericks. Kristaps Porzingis has led the way for the Wizards during this stretch and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Deni Avdija have really stepped up their production lately. The Wizards have also been very good in back-to-back games this year, going 8-5, which includes winning three of their last four. Moreover, Washington has won one of the three matchups against Atlanta this year, and each of the two losses has been by single digits. Plus, none of the three games have totaled 235 points.

OddsShopper gives Washington a 55% chance of covering and an expected ROI of 10%.
