Week 12 Wednesday Night Football NFL Picks + NFL Odds Boosts To Watch | Steelers vs. Ravens

When it comes to NFL betting, there are often few better wagers to gamble on than NFL odds boosts. They are bets that are exactly what they sound like: Promotions from sportsbooks that move the odds in your favor on certain bets. Most of them are the specific prop bets that you might be searching for by yourself, and oftentimes the odds are fairly enticing. Rarely can you make a lot of money on these bets because of limits, but our job is to highlight the best NFL prop bets and NFL picks to wager on every weeks. We scour the internet trying to find the best NFL odds boosts for you every day from every sportsbook. We have a treat today with some ultra rare Week 12 Wednesday Afternoon Football between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

It is finally safe enough to play this rivalry game nearly a week after it was initially scheduled to be played. The spread of COVID-19 through the Ravens locker room has certainly made things interesting from a betting perspective, as most sportsbooks have stayed away from Baltimore. The exception is, of course, Robert Griffin III, so we will explore what to expect out of him today. Otherwise, it’s all Steelers-centric odds boosts today with most of them focused on what Pittsburgh will do as a team rather than the individual players.

NFL Odds: Week 12 Wednesday Afternoon Football Picks & Prop Bets

NFL Picks: First Score Be Steelers Touchdown (+225 BetMGM)

Pittsburgh has the league’s best scoring defense and ranks third in yards allowed per game. Baltimore is starting its backup quarterback and has most of its playmakers out for the game. This is a giant mismatch that likely will result in the Steelers scoring first, especially considering the Steelers are fourth in the NFL in scoring offense. Pittsburgh has settled for just 17 field goal attempts through 10 games, and it has scored 36 touchdowns over that same span. The weapons Ben Roethlisberger has at his disposal make me believe the Steelers are going to try to put this game to bed early.

As for who will score that first touchdown, DraftKings is offering +1170 odds on it being Chase Claypool. I think this is a wise flier to take, as Claypool has caught a touchdown in three of his last four games, and he has also rushed for two touchdowns this season. Without James Conner due to COVID-19, the Steelers might get creative with the running packages again, and give Claypool a carry or two in the red zone. If not, his 6-foot-4, 238-pound frame makes him a nice red-zone target as well if the Steelers don’t hit the big play early.

NFL Picks: Robert Griffin III 30+ Rushing Yards (+100 PointsBet)

The good news for the Ravens is that Griffin possesses many of the same characteristics as a quarterback that Lamar Jackson has. This means Baltimore can still commit itself to the running game and keep the quarterback runs as part of the gameplan. Given the success Baltimore has had with quarterback rushes this season, I expect Griffin will pick up where Jackson left off and be able to exploit some holes. Baltimore’s best chance to win is to control the clock, and that means trusting Griffin to run the ball and bleed time.

Griffin’s last start was actually last season against the Steelers, as he led the Ravens to a 28-10 victory. In that game he ran eight times for 50 yards, so even though Baltimore is shorthanded, Griffin has done well against Pittsburgh in the past. Those rushing yards accounted for most of his production last season, as Griffin averaged 3.5 yards per carry on 20 rushes. He’s run just five times this year, but all of those were in late-game situations when running the ball was the only option. We’ll see how he does in Week 12.

NFL Picks: Steelers Special Teams/Defense Scores Touchdown (+330 PointsBet)

Every once in awhile you get that gut feeling that something is going to happen, and this is one of those times. Baltimore is so shorthanded on offense that Pittsburgh is going to have an excellent chance to exploit those weaknesses and create some chaos. It might be a pick-six like the Steelers had in the first meeting of the season, it might be a fumble returned for a touchdown. Pittsburgh leads the league in takeaways this season, and it has a chance to add plenty of them today.

Another downside of the Ravens’ illness is what it will do to Baltimore’s special teams units. Most of the players Baltimore will put on the field might not have much practice on kickoff coverage or punt coverage, which might give Pittsburgh a chance to exploit some holes. Diontae Johnson is a dynamic playmaker on offense, and he could show us what he can do as a returner today as well.
